So for what its worth, when I was picking up on Saturday, I was talking to the guys behind me, they were asking if the beer in the fridge was for sale, I told them yes. They told me the last time they were at the Dojo and wanted to buy something, they were told it was members only.

My only point is that there are times, when walk in customers are told "sorry members only"

I can see both sides of this. Not being able to pick the hop forward beers during a pickup is an issue for some people with limited time, that are not close to a pickup location, due to the short pickup windows. Other beers and swag are much less of an issue. You can always get them next month.

On the other hand, the Dojo is small and I do think MT tries to meet demand and communicate when they are out of stock.

Probably worth checking email, FB, and here, before heading out.

I'm just saying be happy with the allotment that's been made available to members. If you want more but at the same also wanting to be considerate of others to enjoy, then have it on tap whereas if others like it & see it's available to go, then let them have a try so others can be aware & share in their new discovery of good beer.

Alright, then if it happens again - I hope it affects you. Since you won't be terribly bummed.

I would be pretty bummed, because my whole trip would be specifically for their IPA's. I can visit DTLA once a month for Modern Times, but definitely not twice. Unless they are offering Monster Tones, again!

The Bruery pickups have always been really smooth for me.

But then so have my Dojo pickups.

After yesterday we are indeed looking into off-site cold storage options in LA. That way the beer would be 30 mins away instead of 2 hours away when they need a re-up.

    Cheers,

I'm less than 30 min away and have extra cold storage space, if you want to work something out

Well, I'm poking fun of you, not Modern Times - considering your history. It's easy to say, "I wouldn't be terribly bummed". So if it happens to you, then you are able to prove your statements. Of course if you are local or frequently visit DTLA, it will always be a non-issue.

    I'm a big advocate of MT. 4 months in, I can't imagine any reason why I wouldn't re-up for 2020.

Well, you asked me how I would feel and I answered honestly and laid out my reasons why. If you don't believe me, I'm not going to lose any sleep over it. I stand by my opinion that pick ups are by far way better overall at MT than at the Bruery, but I'll refrain from elaborating on that as it's been covered before. And, I don't want to incur further wrath of fervid Bruery fanboy nerds who get angry if when someone criticizes the Society. I have felt their wrath, and it is unpleasant

Throwing my experience/two cents in. Several months ago I went up LA to pick up my League order and was told one of the stouts was not available as the stock had been depleted and they hadn’t refilled it yet. Since it’s a minimum two hour round trip drive from OC to LA (c’mon Anaheim open!), it’s not an easy or quick trip up. Fortunately it was a stout though, so I could just pick it up the next time I went up due to the 3-mo pick up window. However, if it had been an IPA, there’s no way I would’ve been able to get back up there within the pickup window.

Since then, I typically email the League the day or so before my intended drive up to LA to make sure they have my order in stock so I can change my plans if need be. More often than not Steven/Leanne have promptly gotten back to me before my drive up and said everything is in stock. Having been told on multiple platforms that the Dojo has limited storage available, a little bit of this type of quick prep work saves a lot of drive time/hassle.

I remember a couple years ago i had to drive down south from long beach to pick up a certain mexican hot chocolate styled beverage and the location ran out. They took down my info and within a day or two i had a box labeled "live yeast samples" sitting at my front door. I got a huge kick out of that and totally appreciate the effort.

I'm assuming from context you're referring to the Dojo - if so, don't forget they're closed on Tuesdays now.

Exactly this. I either drive 6 hours to DTLA, or 9 hours to SD to do pickups. While the SD pickups are guaranteed, DTLA is not. Quick email is the way to go!
