What beer are you drinking now? #2383

Fantastic English porter as usual this year. Flavors of big toasted coconut, milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, vanilla, cream, toffee, dark bread, marshmallow, and light coffee/dark fruits. Light balancing roast bitterness against sweetness; with an amazing creamy/silky/velvety medium-plus body; light touch of sticky spice, chalky roast character, and dryness. Definitely my top favorite coconut beer, but there are others I buy more often. Wish this was year round. I bought a full case worth of 4 packs in 2017. Already got 3 packs so far, but it will be around for a while, still plenty on the shelf. Very easy to find this year vs previous ones.

Easy to make!

Just coconut milk, chicken broth, red curry paste, lemongrass, ginger, lime juice, cilantro, white onion, red bell pepper,(some additional red Thai chili if you like it hot).

Jalapeños, lime and cilantro to top!

 

Incredible imperial stout. Aromas and flavors of big milk chocolate, cocoa, banana, coconut, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, bourbon, toasted oak, nuts, and dark/brown bread; with light notes of coffee, molasses, licorice, raisin, cherry, smoke, and herbal hops. Mild herbal/roast bitterness and bourbon/oak spiciness on the finish. Light-medium carbonation and fairly full body; very creamy, silky, velvety, rich mouthfeel that is amazing. Slight sticky hop, chalky roast, and bourbon/oak tannins. Slightly increasing lingering bitter/tannic dryness. No cloying/acrid. Dangerously smooth sipping. Mildly increasing warmth of 11%, with no barrel booze. Another easy winner as expected. Perfectly balanced rich malts, flavorings, and bourbon barrel integration. Minimal booze/tannins on barrels. Always buy more than 1 pack every release regardless. Never been disappointed. Still need to review the Raspberry/Hibiscus super soon.

Bottled 13 July 2018.
Moderate to vigorous pour yields a light pinkish tan head over a dark cherry brown body with some lacing. Nose of dark cherry and oak foremost, with dark malts wafting in and out, and a bit of chocolate trying to hide in the depths. Taste mirrors nose very nicely with a tannin-like, near mouth-puckering finish. Very nice mouthfeel and overall, damn, what a nice sour beer. Something I always wished their Petit Mutant would mutate into.
