Now hitting the "Burgee" variant.

Hopped with Saaz and Sterling, it's more bland and sweet than the "Allision" I had earlier. Of the adjuncts on board ("Brown Sugar, Orange Peel, Dutch Cocoa, Coffee Beans"), only the orange peel makes itself notable among the usual stout flavors.

Black Prism from Schell's Brewing. Perfect after work beer.

 

Maple BBA barleywine. This was fantastic. Nice fluffy head retention/soapy lacing for the ABV. Flavors of huge caramel, brown sugar, maple syrup, vanilla, toffee, bourbon, coconut, toasted oak, roasted nuts, biscuit, and brown bread/crust; with lighter notes of raisin, plum, prune, cherry, fig, date, apricot, red apple, white grape, leather, tobacco, herbal, grass, pepper, and yeast earthiness. Similar/muted aromas, minimal barrel booze as it warms. Mild herbal, grass, peppery, charred oak bitterness; and bourbon/oak tannin spiciness on the finish. Light-medium carbonation and medium-full body. Very creamy, silky, velvety, bready malts; light slickness, sticky hops, and bourbon/oak tannins in the mouthfeel. Lightly increasing lingering bitter/tannic dryness, no cloying sweetness. Smooth sipping, mild increasing warmth of 12%, minimal lingering barrel booze. Amazing balance of rich malts and maple syrup barrel presence/integration; with restrained fruity English yeast, and solid earthy hop balance. Not overly sweet/heavy from lingering dryness. Was expecting a bit more fruitiness for an English barleywine, but they nailed it. Malts and barrels are the showcase. 4.25

I literally bought a ticket on impulse last night to see them for $20 with slipnot. I think I'll go to the punk rock brewery a mile north of the concert before hand wearing a slipnot shirt or something to scare people. These dudes are there too. Gotta love livenation concert deals. I'm actually seeing the Who for free because someone else bought me a ticket for $20.
