Jet black body; dense and creamy tan head, not too thin yet not very thick; sheets of foam coating the inside of the glass. Big roasted and charred grain character with some boozy notes; bitter chocolate. Sweet chocolate and cocoa taste; a note of vanilla; bourbon; quiet bitterness. Heavy body; sludgy and velvety on the palate; semi-sweet mouthfeel character with some alcohol dryness to temper things.

This beer is rich and powerful, full of flavor with a surprisingly subtle bourbon quality.

Don’t drink and root for baseball teams.

Agreed. Specifically the Dunkel holds up okay, but does seem to fit the general concept of fresher being better.

How’d you manage to come across some Solace, and what do you think?

One thing I will say about the Waldo's, it definitely fugs you up. Last beer of the evening, something a little lighter ...

Why are you so talkative? Are you home alone tonight or something?

Maybe. Or maybe just sparking some random conversations about beer.

    Mostly what you said, though.

Why are you chiming in so much?

    Old habits die hard.
I still have a few more left for a few more after work beers.
I do work six days a week so they'll be gone soon.
    Cheers!!

2016 vintage. This was incredible. Lasting fluffy head retention/foamy lacing. Aromas and flavors of big sour/tart/tangy raspberries, passion fruit, cranberry, fruit skin/seeds, hibiscus, lemon, lime, orange, grapefruit, peach, pear, mango, melon, apricot, red/green apple, white grape/wine, oak, peppercorn, hay, straw, and grass; with moderate wheat, cracker, white bready malts; lighter notes of leathery/musty/lacto funk, white wine vinegar, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate fruity/lactic tart/sourness, fruit tang, and yeast/oak tannin spiciness on the finish. High carbonation, light-medium body, and moderately crisp/clean finishing. Balanced bready/grainy wheat, lactic acid, and fruit tang/tannins in the mouthfeel. Moderate increasing acidic/tangy/tannic dryness; zero pucker/astringency. Very smooth, pretty refreshing, no warmth of 7.1%. Amazing balance of juicy fruits/hibiscus, and Brett/Bacteria complexity; with great oak foeder presence, and pale/wheat malts against acidity. Zero residual sweetness with crisp dryness. Top tier sour, no real spice presence after 3 years though. 4.28

I was going to join @TheIPAHunter in having a Field Study, but my roommate busted out a pack Frost Beer Works Lush, so I went for that instead!

This is fantastic stuff! A great Vermont DIPA reminiscent of Heady Topper. Delicious.

Anyway, this is it for me. It's past my bedtime. Cheers, everyone!

I remember getting up way too early on a Thursday morning (after working late) to drive down to The Warren Store to try to score a few of the foil wrapped bombers of this beer. Sometimes I was too late, and got a 2nd cup of coffee.
    The chase, baby, the chase!
    Cheers!!!
