Just revisited this for the first time in a year or two and was reminded how under-rated and great it actually is....but Upslope Craft Lager which was one of my first craft lagers, also remains one of my favorites.

As weird as it sounds, I've never loved Upslope's Craft Lager. I like just about everything else they make and it sounds like it was made for me. Yet, I just don't. It walks a weird line in-between the macros, Euros, and "new school" American lagers...but doesn't hit the right notes from any of those for my palate. My wife digs it and I have friends with similar tastes that do, so I think it's just me. Instead, I'd rather crush S26's 303 or Odell Lager. Old Aggie's fine, too.

While it's sometimes forgotten, Left Hand's Polestar is still a pretty great pils that's available nearly everywhere. Breck's Summer Pils is also quite good. After their horrible dip in quality prior to the AB purchase, I'm actually okay with them again. At the very least I know the beers won't be off.

I believe Left Hand recently axed Polestar.

Yipes, I hope not. It's still on their site and cans/kegs are still around. Wouldn't shock me, though. I think that's one of only two (Oktoberfest is the other) Tabernash vestiges left.

It’s gone. I just checked with my beer guy. I also first looked on the LH website, but they have not updated it yet. Too bad, I was going to go and pick up a 6 pack later this afternoon.

Damn. That really sucks. It's probably the best packaged German pils anywhere near here. I wonder if Oktoberfest is next to go? I can't really shit on LH's nitro thing (it's brilliant) but I'm a little disappointed.

I look forward to their Octoberfest every year... partially because of nostalgia, but also because I really like it. Hopefully it doesn’t get axed too

I can't see them axing Oktoberfest. Polestar didn't sell well enough to keep it during the IPA, stout, sour phases...and now there are more pilsner options. There are a lot of Oktoberfests now, too, though.
Of course, they may just say screw it all and go with seltzers. Those are so rad!! :astonished:

I think it's worth visiting, but Zwei is far superior. If you can only pick one, Zwei ten times out of ten.

The Billsner at Hogshead was put on tap last week. Lagered for 13 weeks I believe

Anyone try this? It has to be great right? Deciding whether I should make the trek over there.

It's fantastic. It's rounder than the normal Bierstadt dry northern pils. I think it might even be Czech style, but don't quote me on that. Either way, yes you should.

I finally got to try the Weldwerks "Lager" (kellerbier) this weekend and really enjoyed it. As with most of their flood of constantly rotating beers, I passed over it at least two times previously before finally pulling the trigger. I won't make the mistake of letting it slip by in the future, and I recommend it if you see it in your area.

I know everyone is on their Haze Craze for Odd13, but their unfiltered Kellerbier "Superfly" was delicious. Do not sleep on this beer, it is perfect for Summer.

Nah we need more breweries doing shit like this.

I love that Cerebral canned one of their Foeder Lagers too.

Not sure if you all have seen this, but Cerebral is having a Lager Fest next weekend 6/29 starting @ 12 PM ().

Apparently, they're getting 2 cases of cans from 10 different breweries including Trillium, Almanac, Finback, Brouwerij West. Not sure if Schilling is on anyone's radar, but they'll have cans there and I keep hearing from people in New England that they're killing it.

I got a sixer of Turkeyfoot Amber Lager a couple days ago. I've never heard of them before, but the beer is good. It is very clean (holy shit, a local lager with no diacetyl at all, lol). It is lightly toasty, and easy drinking.
