I chose Guinness, but seems like a trolling thread. There are 2 other similar threads by the same user.

Guiness Extra is a good beer. It's creamy and fluffy with a nice, oily finish. It's the light/lite, dark beer. It has an okay score on this site, but only because blowhards gave it bad scores 10yrs ago. If you have legitimate people judging it (people with training and a system) there is no way you score GES low - it's to style (it is the style), well executed- and in addition- it's easily accessible and inexpensive.

Leffe Brune could give GE a run for it's money, I've always thought it was a great cigar beer. I find the blonde less interesting, but it's again, a to style- well executed beer. No real complaints from me other than I prefer higher gravity Belgian beers.

    Newcastle is garbage.

Great post dude. I still havent made up my mind but Im gravatating towards Leffe because most Golden colored Ales I have bought have atrcious head retention, but i was also trying go stay on the cheaper side. I usually dont go above 7.9 abv but I have had some that were above and they were nice. Since I mostly drink Ale and Water, I would say I appreciate low abv ales the most. I have a huge thirst for Ale and Id rather keep drinking and enjoying it vs having 1 or two powerful ones but that can be awesome too. Samuel Smith Imperial Stout is the strongest Ale I drink now. I will drink Trappist Ale on ocassion.

Its been a while since I've had any of those. The last was Leffe, which surprised me, since for a long time I shunned lighter colored beers. Newcastle has changed a few times since my early days, so who knows if I'd relate to it the same way.

If you want to drink the same brand of beer over and over and are willing to purchase a kegerator (or convert a refrigerator) that is an option for you.

    Cheers!

Not only over those two, I choose Guinness Extra Stout over every other beer made.

OP thanks for the fun comparisons (and your other post Coors vs High Life). They are well thought out competitions between beers, and in this case different styles but fair competion which was even more creative.

Newcastle at one time was my favorite craft beer (maybe around 1999-2001 timeframe?)
Hasn't tasted quite as good lately.

Guinness is always an enjoyable stout, have it pretty much every St. Paddy's day.

My vote went to Leffe though (either Brown or Blonde both are very solid). Something about a nice Witbier every now and then. Maybe because its spring and it's more in season right now than stouts or browns.

In some more rural parts of France where breweries are scarce and stores have a very limited selection,
Leffe was typically one of the better options.

Of course there are really good wine options.

PA isn't on the same level as Michigan or California when it comes to "craft" beer, but it is a great beer state, and has been for many years...

That's Guinness draught. Guinness extra isn't light in the mouthfeel or the taste departments. It is also, in my opinion, much much better than new Castle or leffe.

Well, it's dead-horse-beating comment, I suppose - but how was Newcastle Brown Ale a "craft beer"? It was brewed with an adjunct and was from the largest brewer in the UK, Scottish-Newcastle, something like the 7th largest in the world at the time. When, around that same period, Philip Morris was looking for a spin-off partner to take Miller Brewing Co. off its hands, they for a time considered a 3-way merger with Scottish-Newcastle and SAB (the ultimate purchaser), which would have made the combination the world's largest brewer at the time.

Really? Which "Americans" would that be? Not many craft geeks or even typical US import drinkers. The new Lagunitas recipe bumped the IBU's up to 28 (most sources put the UK-brewed version at 18) - not anywhere near the typical IPA bitterness levels.

Newcastle - wow I'm one of only two people!

All three of those beers are flawed, but I didn't expect such disproportionate voting! I guess I have a soft spot for Newcastle...drank it quite a bit as a teen in the 90's.

After long speculation I chose Guinness. It is the most available to me, and I love the tall bottles.

    Cheers
