I usually only go when they have something special on and the prices haven't been out of line with other establishments of the caliber - they've had BCBS variants most years, I recall Vanilla Rye multiple times in their 10oz glasses for around 10 bucks.

I'm headed to the 50th and France Red Cow for dinner tonight. Just checked the tap list and there is only one out of 33 taps that is more than $8.50. Not exactly "most pints are $10".

Any beer that is over $4-5 is overpriced. Its just beer.

Enjoy drinking in rural Minnesota then. You aren't going to find $4-5 pints on tap anywhere in Minneapolis.

I think you’ll be pretty hard pressed to find pints under $6 in rural MN these days too.

I can tell you where you CAN get $1 happy hour beers. All you have to do is go to Flag Island Resort, in the middle of Lake of the Woods in the Northwest Angle. You can get LOW Brewing beers there also, but they are $3 during Happy Hour.

Ashby Brewing Company is now selling pints, 10 oz and flights at their taproom in Ashby. Previously they just filled growlers. They are open Friday and Saturday only. You can still get many of their beers across the street at Club 74.

I'm told that Boom Island will be moving out of its current space in North Minneapolis by the end of this month (July). It's aiming for a mid-August opening for the Minnetonka brewery and taproom (but you know the rule...).

The (allegedly) soon-to-open Thesis Beer Project in Rochester will have a taproom by afternoon and evening and a coffee shop, an outpost of Café Steam, by morning.

Prime Stein Brewery, also in planning in Rochester, officially has a venue. It will start as a true nanobrewery with a one-barrel system, but the owners hope quickly to be able to afford a larger system.

Any word on whether Boom Island will be changing its name as it will be nowhere near the piece of land that was formerly Boom Island?

It has no plans to change its name.

It'll be just a bit further then Fulton is from its namesake neighborhood. Also, they've been ramping up their production to have enough on hand to keep selling while they make the transition to the new digs and not run out.

If a name change was in the works I'd think we would've seen some sort of paperwork or filing done by now. When it comes to alcoholic labeling these things can't just happen overnight.

I actually just had a $4 pint last night at The Village Pub in St Anthony. They have $4 craft pints all day everyday...that was the slogan on the menu.

Huh? Every time I have been there the beers are $6-7 unless it's their brewery of the month

Haven’t visited that place since it opened. Has their selection improved since Leinenkugel’s Summer Shandy and Summit EPA were the only Craft On Tap?* Inquiring minds want to know.

*Probably best to answer in the “On Tap In The Twin Cities” thread, so as to keep this one on-topic (not as if it never goes off-topic, but ya know... )

Their list got much better. Not on the level of Republic, Grizzlys, etc but normally will have a few options that are unique/sought-after. They will sometimes have a keg of something that is pretty hyped. Also do brewery events where that beer is discounted and/or have something special on tap from them.

On a side note, their food got much better in the past couple years.

I heard they were considering Big Poop Island given the proximity to Lake Minnetonka
