Don't think I've had one that has done that particular trick.

Opened four barrel-aged beers this weekend - two were very disappointing, two were very good. Odds are usually much better than that. First disappointing one was Pelican Queen of Hearts. Supposedly it's a gin barrel aged saison, but it tasted only of carbonated gin and I couldn't finish it. Then Breakside's Grandmammy, which tasted only of fresh wood and was very thin, with none of the other flavors it promised.

On the plus side, de Garde's Special Noir was delicious because de Garde. Then Ferment's Old Ale blew me away - so good! It's everything an Old Ale should be and I need more of it when I get back to Hood River. Interesting note: it was brewed and bottled at Zoiglhaus in 2017. I wonder if that was a one-time thing?

Just split a Black Butte XXI with a co-worker. Still nice, a the coffee has faded out:

Been a long time since I've had this classic. Stupid new label as well though. Cheers.

Wow, what a terrible label on a classic brew.

We're out east visiting my in-laws, so there have been no PNW beers, but plenty of local ones. Particularly impressive are the Kent Falls and Lawson's beers I've found.

Today, we're off to Newport (RI), so more local beers will be had.

Nice. I've not been pursuing any walez beers (I think that one still counts as such) to save $ for my impending tropical adventure, but I'm sad I couldn't get one of these. I've probably got one from last year to hit when the cool weather strikes, though.

Can't guarantee, but I think I've spotted this around. If ya want, can grab and work out details at a future date.

On the plus side, it doesn't look like the redesign has affected any of their premium bottles, like Black Butte XXXI or Black Mirror.

Now hoping my local distributor isn't a complete Fn moron again this year and actually brings their premium stuff to the Sac area market.

True to their word, Ex Novo Beaverton put Mass Ascension IPA on tap this week.

And true to our word, Mrs. vurt and I are here to help drink it while it's fresh. No, it's our pleasure. Cheers!

we really do a terrible job hyping up our beers here in the NW. On the Ex Novo section within BA, most Ex Novo beers dont have more than 5 ratings total, and Mass Ascension isnt even listed.... hahaha
