Has anyone ever been banned from a brewery for what they've posted online?

    Cheers everyone!

For those of you who have paid attention to The Bruery's BA forum probably know what happened earlier this week, but someone was banned (not from BA, but from The Bruery) for writing a profanity-laden rage post that the CEO believed was directed at The Bruery and their staff... I sorta see where he was coming from (plus, it's his company, and he can do what he pleases), but pointed out that this does set a precedent...

But I'm curious how true that is. Do any of you have any stories of other breweries banning people for what they post on here, or on social media in general? This is more out of curiosity than anything TBH, but I'm wondering if a new precedent was set or if this has happened before.

***Disclaimer: Post not directed at anyone in particular***

Only time people get banned for anything at breweries/bars/pubs is for being a public disgrace/danger/nuisance. However, if you start saying inflammatory things online about a real person who has the power to keep you at a fair distance from an establishment you seem to take exception with then whats stopping them from stopping you.

I wonder what would happen if you went back to that Sav-on (or whatever it's called now) today. They would probably have to do some serious forensics to identify you and kick you out for something you did at least a decade or two (I don't know your age) ago.

Yea I miss the day's when Pizza Hut was an actually respectable establishment (for the younger people, the logo is modeled after the roofs the sit down restaurants used to have):rofl::rofl:

We had to ban a guy at my former (Jewish owned) brewery job for saying some out of pocket anti-semitic comments while drunk. Thankfully it didn't escalate beyond that but it was definitely a scene.

I can't imagine too many people getting banned from what they post on BA though due to the anonymity of the users. Unless the user is well known outside of it and recognizable.

For the record it seems he was removed from the membership and refunded for the remainder of the year and removed from the renewal list for said membership (the latter he explicitly requested, the former is what people seem to be referring to as 'being banned') but I don't think that he was banned from the establishment or anything, just kicked out of the beer club

Not sure about that... the end of Barry's post said "You are no longer welcome at The Bruery." Now if that was considered a knee-jerk reaction and redacted, then alright, but I'm going off of what was said there. Wouldn't be surprised to see a "Do Not Serve" sign on the wall with his picture next to mine.

I wonder how easy it is for people to link names to accounts. I think it's pretty obvious for me... my fat mug is my avatar, and people know me as FegelFatso. But for the record, my name is Terrence Mullens, my email is glasstothearson@yahoo.com (old college email... never got rid of it for some reason), and my social security number is 531-27-9151 (if you believe that last one, you're more gullible than me!)

What you say and do matters. It does not matter if your online or in person, words/actions have real world consequences. Folks today best wise up. Just because your are online does not buffer you from issues. Companies today can fire you over what you post as well as ban you from their business if they feel fit.
I am not sure how they could every know this person showed up, if he is not asked for ID they would never know and honestly its probably more anger than anything, I doubt they would ever waste their time looking for this person. And the poster said they are DONE with this place anyway so who cares, they won't go there anyway.
    Cheers

In all fairness, Patrick Rue has nothing to do with it. He’s no longer the CEO of The Bruery (yeah, that’s news to me too!)

Barry Holmes, the new CEO of The Bruery, was the one who imposed the ban.

It's true, it does become a grey area - and a moral conundrum.

Obviously it would be illegal to ban someone from a brewery due to their race or gender. But what if a brewery chose to ban a customer because they didn't like guacamole?
