Awesome marketing! Hope the beers are as good. Rock on with your bad self!

The inhabitants of The Marshall Islands may think you might ponder longer............

Really? Since there is no legal action to take, I might recommend they don't ponder at all.

I have not read all three pages yet. I think they missed the boat....what if the premise of the theme was communicated with the islanders and vets involved to raise awareness and donate a portion of the proceeds to the people affected.

So let's never question reprehensible things so long as they are "legal." I find that an odd sentiment coming from you Dave, unless thats not what you meant. One doesn't often find a person to be both lawyer and altruist all in the same bite.

I would be all for the raised awareness they proposed if they were actually donating proceeds toward a cause worth supporting except lining pockets with cash grab punny short sighted marketing. Seems more like when called out they wanted to come off as more sympathetic than they really were to begin with. I hope with the backlash and what i'm sure to be more newfound popularity they turn it into a positive.

The legacy of our testing these weapons will redound on us as a people forever. The real story is not about these hair-brained beers, but about folks knowing the real price of the experiments and finally the use of these weapons. There is nothing flip about this subject....

I believe we are free to be as offended as we want to be. I have felt this way my whole life so don't know to what you refer?

I had the thought of the Manhattan Project beers in my head for about a second. After the thought was replaced by another thought I can assure you there was zero, zip, nada, no impact of any kind (other than one second's worth of thought). I recommend, since the beer won't be distro to Bikini Atoll, the Marshall Islanders not even give it one second of thought. But if they do, I am certain they will be as fine as I am right now.

The happy compromise is to just call the beer "Climate Change" and no one will be offended for 10 years until the Marshall Islands are completely submerged.

A brewery in Saudi would get the owners stoned to death in the square - regardless of what they named the beers. Bad example. :astonished:

Thanks. Have seen a lot of that in book once read that's in the basement, but good to also have a look at later events for the downwinders than were mentioned in that book.

There was also Uranium mining in South East Utah. Knew a guy once whose family had a "get-rich quick" experience when some U was discovered on the family ranch land. They were happy to leave the farm behind.

Personally, if I or members of my extended family had had to move from a contaminated island while being forced to see/hear a nuclear explosian larger than the one at Hiroshima 67 times I think I'd feel the same as do some of the Marshall Islanders. I don't much care to be deliberately exposed against my will to man made events that deliberately cause me and mine near total disruption of our lives and/or lots of regular periodic stress for so many years or that may also potentially produce lasting effects that shorten my life against my will.

Note: I'd also be pretty pissed if the forced move from one place to another happened more that once, extending over a generation or two. (Not to mention the radiation related illness that were so common.)

I was at Lackland recently. I believe these B-52 were the ones you refer to.

One representation that explains a similar notion of positron annihilation and the universe balancing energy...dark matter is essentially the 'holes' in observation until they become gamma rays on annihilation.

I have been following this conversation for about 25 years. I have a theory about left-handed anti-neutrinos that I have been trying to solve for nearly this long (in line kind of with the WIMPS theory) in my spare time.

    P.S. Feynman is my hero.

    Clever and sad.

Ok. I read through all this stuff. They were trying to be clever and it backfired. How they go forward will dictate their future and that is what really matters.

Ignorance aside, how one reacts to these matters speaks volumes to their character. A percentage-of -proceeds donation olive branch might ameliorate the parties. Simple.

How do you feel about eminent domain laws? You could be forced to move for the Government to build a road, school or whatever.

"Experts" and I use that term loosely say that billions of dollars of real estate will be underwater by 2050.. but we are also at levels of ice melt projected by worse case scenarios for 2070. Subtract the 20 year difference and 2030 sounds about right.

Lots of opinions here. Opinions aren’t right or wrong. I would have no idea about this brewery or their beers if it wasn’t for this thread.

Really insightful Twitter thread by a PostDoc at Columbia:

In particular, this subpoint seems to encapsulate a lot of what is going on in this forum with respect to those that can't seem to muster up the concern about how this might impact Marshallese Islanders:
