The math works out to 2.5 Bud Lights (or 2.13 Bud Heavies) in 12oz cans.

Welcome to Massachusetts! Here is a suggestion- rent the car, ask the driver to only have a beer at tree house- have them drive to Armsby abbey in Worcester (on the way back to boston) Armsby has one of the best draft lists in the state (always has Hill Farmstead) and then the driver can enjoy another beer and someone else can drive back to Boston. That way, everyone gets to enjoy a pint or two.

I'm assuming that's $16.50 for a 12oz bag of coffee beans, not a 12oz cup of coffee. Which isn't too absurd for a local "craft" roasted coffee

I'm actually glad that TH has a 2 pour limit because just because you feel fine doesn't mean you aren't over the limit. A lot of times you can see two parents drinking 2 pours each with their infant on the picnic table and then driving home. For me, I feel pretty good after just one of those heavy hitters and I try not to drive after having 2 unless i'm up there for 3 hours let alone if I had kids and were driving with them home.

Getting a DUI especially as someone not from this country is a risk not worth taking.

Limiting coffee to one bag per person is fantastically hilarious. Only Tree House .

Dont forget most coffee beans at that price point and quality is sold by the pound not 12 ounces so the price per ounce is up there.

Because you know most people visiting are going to buy it just because why not? And it will probably sit in their pantry for 5 years before 2025 spring cleaning comes around and they toss it with all the other unnecessary purchases they've accumulated in that time.

Not true. Most higher end coffee beans (intelligentsia, George Howell, Counter culture, Stumptown, insert your local roaster, etc.) are sold in 12 oz bags. Some of the even higher end, small lot beans can come in smaller bags (8 oz or less).

Well based upon your knowledge I guess I missed the coffee bean bus then. Kinda glad I did as I can only handle one expensive fix at a time.

I bought a bag of coffee beans. This batch doesn't taste as good as the previous batch.

The 16oz to 12oz transition in coffee is pretty recent, and very regrettable for a household like mine, which goes through about a pound a week. As coffee prices have risen, the producers have decided to cut package size instead of raise prices. Where you used to get 16 oz. for $15, now you get 12 oz. for that same price.

To me this is annoying, because my local grocery store carries the good beans from a local roaster, and I'd like to buy a week's worth at a time, the same way I buy my groceries. I'd rather just pay what it costs for the 16 oz. bag. Some devious producers are now cutting further, down to 11 or even 10 oz., without changing the price and trying to make the bag look like it's the same size. Sneaky bastards. It's not illegal or anything, but it sure drives me away from their brands as soon as I notice it.

Roasting quality coffee is a lot easier than brewing quality beer. I highly suggest that anyone serious about coffee should buy an air roaster and bulk green coffee beans online. I have done some homebrewing and have produced beer that I have enjoyed, but I am not fooling myself into thinking it is anywhere near beers by respectable brewers. Coffee on the other hand, is way easier to produce with low cost equipment and a lot less mess and time. The cost savings isn't as great on coffee, but still significant.
