Finally got to try Pert Near last night and loved it. Tons of fruit and just a little grassy fresh hop character. Really enjoyed how it the bitterness was fairly low to let the hop flavor stand out, but it didn't come across sweet at all. Looks like a perfect day today to get out there and find some more FH beers to try.

I know they're not a brewery anyone talks about, and honestly I'm always surprised that they're still open, but Lazy Boy did a Strata fresh hop IPA with Puebla Vida from New Mexico. If you happen to see it in on tap around the Seattle area, drink it. Holy shit is it good.

I also had Breakside's Strata fresh hop golden ale, and was impressed. I guess I like strata on it's own.

Crux Pert Near and Fremont Field to Ferment today. The former made me feel better about my homebrew fresh hop IPA (it's similarly sweet) and the later blew me away with its bitterness (haven't had one that old school in a long time)

Saw a six-pack of Mazama FH Green Magic the other day. Anyone tried that one yet? I'm a little nervous about committing to a full six-pack of it.

So by luck and good fortune work has me scheduled to be in Yakima this week. I fly into Seatac Wednesday afternoon and make the drive over. Any local suggestions on best place to purchase beer to go either near Seatac or in Yakima? Best beer bar in Yakima? And would you take 90 or 410?

Near the airport you've got Super Deli Mart in West Seattle, Beer Star in White Center and CRFT Beers in Auburn.

The Beer Shoppe either closed or will be going out of business soon so I'm not sure what other options you've got in Yakima now.

Yakima places to drink (other than all the breweries that you should definitely go to): Cowiche Canyon Kitchen has experimental pilot beers from Haas that you won't find anywhere else. The Sportcenter bar also has a killer tap list.

If 410 is open I'd go that way, otherwise 90 is just fine.

I agree with @distantmantra , in Yakima hit Bale Breaker, Cowiche Canyon Kitchen, and the SportsCenter.

Had both the Centennial and Strata FH IPAs from Montavilla last night and enjoyed both, but liked the Strata a bit more. They had that "green" FH flavor if that's your thing.

I opened a can last night. It's pretty good, but it's remarkably unremarkable. I dubbed it the La Croix of fresh hop beers.

I prefer 410, as it's much prettier, and less filled with traffic (no semis due to Mt Rainier National Park). You'll get some early fall color along the way, on both sides of Chinook Pass. But it takes longer ... Google Maps right now says 2.5 hours via I-90, and 3 hrs 20 minutes across 410 on Chinook Pass.

BTW - if you haven't heard, they're closing that Lamb's (now Garden Home Marketplace but it'll always be Lamb's to me) next month. Not sure what GHG is going to do, hopefully they find a new location.

Ah, cool. I'm walking distance from the place but don't go as much I'd like.

When the pizza place that was in that spot prior closed down I thought pretty hard about talking to the store manager about putting a growler spot in, was glad that somebody else had the same idea.

I'm finishing one now. Average-ish, at best. One-and-done for me.
