In fairness to them,I think the small batch model only works if they can sell in bulk.

I think this particular box just didn't have the"pop" that others had. This is the first one I passed on, and I didn't even think too hard about that choice.

I got one simply for the Bruery beers. Very few of the Terreux releases do it for me anymore. Horse in the Orchard was the one exception, that thing was fantastic.

Why do you think that? I see it as similar to offering 375ml options for larger beers.

This is the first I've passed as well but, there are a few boxes where I would have only bought 6 and a couple where I would have easily bought a second or third 6-set. If I had the cheaper option to get a normal sampler, I probably would have purchased this month.

It has to be the price. $40 is a little silly in my opinion. I bought one bottle, and it was only because I was already spending $300 to renew RS, so I figured....what's another $40?

I have mostly stopped buying anything over $30 from The Bruery. But its also because that's mostly the BT variants and I have way too many already and don't get to those often anymore. I'm sure I'll give in with the BT10 box though.

Remember they're not pasteurizing, so they probably don't want to sit on extra stock. Bundling means you go through equal quantities of everything. It means adding one new SKU to track instead of six, which can be meaningful for logistics costs.

They may not know which specific ones will be popular. For example, rather than everyone buying up all the Crumbfather and leaving a different one to languish on the shelf, they hedge their bets selling sets. And if there is a home run in the set people might be encouraged to buy the less popular ones to get the bottle they want.

I agree on the warning on re-upping enrollment but still hold a bit of skepticism overall. I had a conversation with Conner who mentioned they've always over-invited but it's never been a problem before but with the Bruery or Terreaux only options, they wanted to be cautious and up front about the possibility. In any case, I'm appreciative that it wasn't another FOMO/F5 fest.

I think ramping up all at one time really diminishes the first half or so of the year being really slow. Over a year, it's fine but pushing out a ton of product all at one time has an impact on the wallet.

Which brings us to this...It's highly possible people have to start making financial decisions at some point and renewing + a ton of new stuff + high price on Rue'd A + hoarder's box reached its limit for some. We also have the BT box to look forward to along with BT and possibly BT Reserve coming out in short order.

September & October for Bruery members tends to be an expensive couple of months

Exactly this. But I think the steady raising of allocations is exactly how this should have been handled especially after the chocolate reign thing. I appreciate the change

I seriously considered this box. Liked The Bruery choices well enough and was intrigued by a saison variant. But with all the other expenses (I gladly picked up a couple extra Rues and some cans along with membership) had to draw the line.

So if this HS box trickles down to RS will there be anger, or is it all cool?

I was searching the COLA database for bruery labels and found they have labels for all the days of Christmas beers ... in 375ml labels.
I’m betting we get another box offering this December. All 12 days. I have to assume the older ones are rebrews since they have keg labels too.

Was thinking about the BT blending party (and previously Hoarders Cuvee's).. I know the winning batch theyll make a big batch and release at the BT release party, but do the winning team win a prize or something?

You are correct, confirmed from an Bruery employee.

Plus they already said they're doing a BA 12 days set next year. Nevertheless, I am super pumped for both!

For people who have collected (and perhaps paid a lot for the old ones) - how do you feel about this re-brew? Happy to have more good beer, or sad you put the effort into collecting?

Oh, I’m sure you will get all kinds of hate. But personally, I’ve never cared. Share the beer and bring profits into the company that allow more beer to follow.

Hmm, maybe you’re not understanding what i was saying. I did not say that you get Bruery or Terreaux only, or a “make your own box”. I was saying you get one of each per box, so 6. There’s still only one SKU. If you wanted 12, you are allowed to purchase qty 2 of that SKU as you would be allocated 2 right away. Your example of everyone buying crumbfather wouldn’t happen because you’d still buy each beer. It would be perfect for the situation listed above where we have renewals, Rue’d, upcoming BT box, etc.

I don’t think that the pasteurization argument holds water as some boxes (like this one) don’t sell out and end up in archive sales months later.

Now I know I’m really going to get raked over the coals for this one but, since these are supposed to be consumed fresh, if the boxes don’t sell out to HS, they should be offered to HS and RS first come first serve when the next box is released.

I wouldn't mind seeing them walk away from the entire box concept. Just bottle each beer and let it stand on its own. One reason left PS many years ago is I didn't care much for the "box" concept. I just prefer to buy the beer I want to buy, not what someone pre-selects for me. Which is why I have yet to buy any HS box.

My first box will be the BT box, because I know I want to drink, share, gift, all of the beers. And I can say that without knowing the full lineup, because I like BT that much.

As for flowing down stream, I've come around to another clubs model. Which allows allocations in order of tier. So in this case, HS first, then RS, then PS, then public. There is no reason in my mind why The Bruery should sit on beer because a certain tier didn't buy it. With this model, the really exclusive stuff gets bought out by the top tier. And you avoid debacles like C. Reign.
