I didn't mean literary on the ice, I meant that the if the event was to be held on the rink, it's a really small space, even with some lower rows pulled back.

I overlaid the arena with the same scale RJS parking lot . Even if they took every bit of real estate in the arena, it would be significantly smaller. One of my favorite things about the parking lot was the room. Lots of it. Not being crammed into one another. Yeah it was hot last year. I rather take some sweat or leave an hour early than being crammed in concourses for 5 hours.

Yeah the space at Raymond was a massive bonus, especially compared to the overly cramped Cotanchobee. I wouldn't even call it a "parking lot"...it's just a very large lawn type area for the purposes it serves on Huna day.

Wow just doing some other comparisons it's also shockingly smaller than Cotanchobee. I can't comprehend how they're doing this unless they use the garage instead of the stadium...I mean they had all of Cotanchobee and it wasn't nearly enough space in many areas, and you can put at least 2 Amalies into that space, and that's counting all the unusable bleacher space.

My guess would be significatly fewer tickets will be avail. Huna did not sell out last year. They just had to stop selling tickets so wristbands could be mailed out.

The bigger question is how will the running of the beer nerds work? If it’s out of a locker room tunnel through smoke machines this is an upgrade no matter how the festival turn out.

    Rough measurements on google:
    RJ Field = 370,290sqft
    Cotanchobee = 171,544sqft
Area of the Entire Arena (no excluding unnameable space) = 181,330sqft
Arena + Rink (with some seats pulled back if possible) = 145,940sqft
Ice Rink Only (with some seats pulled back if possible) = 32,901sqft
    CCB Parking Lot = 45,082sqft.

If they were to absolutely maximize the arean, they'd still be even smaller than the park. If they only get the rink area, they're significantly smaller than the CCB parking lot. If they get just the concourse areas, they're still significantly smaller than the park by almost half.

What is your point? is it a smaller venue? yes, maybe they will sell fewer tickets and have fewer breweries. There are usually a bunch of crappy breweries that stand there with their thumbs up their ass with no one to pour beer for anyway.

My point is that there is a good chance that it's going to be tight now matter how many tickets they limit it to.

Additionally, if they also cut down the amount of breweries, do you think they'll also cut the cost of the ticket?

The point being this has the potential to really suck. I was there in 2014 & it was butts-to-nuts about two hours in. I've been to other venues that have had terrible over-crowding issues during festivals. It blows.

And I'm not sure what your point is. Having crappy breweries with no line actually makes things worse, because you end up with 74% of us nerds in seven lines, causing a whole new set of headaches.

We were planning on going this year (we last went in 2017) but the size of the venue is giving me serious pause. We loved the parking lot set up.

Why would the price go down if they cut down the amount of breweries? It's literally impossible to try every beer at Hunahpu's Day. If they sell less tickets for a smaller space, they need to bring less beer and therefore less breweries. If anything I'd expect a slight increase, renting Amalie Arena is for sure more expensive than part of the Ray Jay parking lot.

Crappy breweries? Really? What, because they don't have whales for you to tick?

The point is it's WAY smaller than other spaces that were already way too tight to begin with. Have you never been to a poorly run or planned beer festival? I've been to a few.

While not the worst example, but a relevant one, Shelton in Kentucky had lines for hyped breweries preventing access to other breweries, and your general ability to walk around was limited to shimmying around like a Playing Card in the Queen of Heart's army. All damn day and night.

2014 was a disater because it was the firs time it was ticketed, the scanners did not work so you could just copy a ticket and get it in. hell a homeless guy was selling them in the street in front of the place. about 2 hrs in the said fuckit and opened the gates. 15 was okay, 16 and 17 were tight at the park but still manageable. RayJay was awesome due to space.

my point is they can make it work and will most likely limit the number of tickets. Everyone should just get a grip unitl they make another announcement. Beer fests in tiny places has worked before.

Maybe they will have the beer up on the concourse around the whole place, that would give more room and spread it all out. The ice area could be for food and seating... you never know.

They probably got a sweet deal on the rental since they signed a deal with Amalie and the lighting to be the official craft beer...

I know it's a ways away so nobody else really has their scheduled events posted yet but I hope CCB offers bottle only sales this year so people can still get bottles but avoid missing other events they may have normally be able to go to had Huna not changed.

i am not sure they will ever do that. They would just make less of it. Or treat more of it for future releases. I did hear a rumor about a one bottle ticket but I think that went away when the venue had to change.

    Everyone is missing the point.

Imagine the holding pen is the tunnels beneath the arena bowl.

    The lights go down.

    The smoke starts to rise.

Lasers and strobe lights fill the arena.

Thunderstruck begins to play and the The PA announcer comes on after three “thunder” chants, “At you ready for Hunaaaaaahpuuuuuuuuuu’s Daaaaaaaayyyyy??!!!?!!”

The PA system and music goes to silence.

The arena rocks with nervous electricity and cheering.

Welcome to the jungle begins to play.

By now it’s delirium in the tunnels. People can’t handle the anticipation.

When the intro hits it’s peak 32 seconds in the gate is open and the festival begins with hundreds of neckbeards sprinting into chaos.

No matter how many crappy breweries or space or tickets are sold or whatever else this is the event of a lifetime. Something you’ll want to tell your grandkids you were a part of.

Just a quick note for those wondering about Barrel Aged day 2020, we aren't changing much at this time and still plan to have our event on Friday afternoon like always. We are also working on another event with some friends, something we wanted to do last year but didn't have the opportunity we have in 2020. Stay tuned

this may thin out the herd at Huna.... except maybe the professional drunks. Wait thats most of us.
