Other Half (2019)

“Grape” especially should still make everyone shit their pants when it’s mentioned in an OH beer. Three years, but the painful memory is as fresh as ever

 

I knew there was a 50 percent chance I would love it or hate it and I took that chance. I ended up hating it. The only reason I bought as much as I did was because I really liked the Cobbler Jams and that didn't get great reviews either. I'm not local to NY and have only been to OH a few times now I didn't know I could ask for a taster I will next time... I can't even be mad though because the crowlers of Hydra I got from Mortalis are so delicious it almost makes me forget how much I hate the Fillings. It is no big deal though I will give them away to friends who will certainly appreciate the gift. One OH beer I would recommend is Bloomfield Zoo in my opinion it is the best beer currently available at the Bloomfield location

 

Grape is one of the only reasons I wanted to try it. I've never had a grape sour and this would tick that box for me and it seems like it could work it executed correctly but it didn't work here for my palate.

Another 'tose dose this week, kinda weird tbh, usually they try and keep things sorta balanced.

 

What does HDHC actually mean outside of adding +$2 to the price tag? How is it different from DDH?

 

I think it's supposed to be some sort of hop distillate, but different than "hop oil" that's been used for a while. I heard somewhere that it's basically the same process commercial/medical marijuana producers use to get extracts, but I could be wrong/misunderstanding.

 

I, for one, welcome our new HDHC overlords

 

Is HDHC what replaced “experimental”? I’m just so stoked for SDH. And really could do with an excuse not to buy IPAs this weekend. Really hope wired version is next @creepyownerguy

Oh and last thing. @Max_W and I went on the inaugural Other Half Locals Long Run in Prospect Park this past weekend. @afroskully @dhaakon (yes, ultra ultra north Clinton hill still qualifies) or anyone else that runs, let’s get another one going. I’m generally in PP weekend mornings (or may be doing the odd drive outside the city to find some trails)

We did 12 on Saturday but I’m down for whatever.

HDHC is something OH came up with I believe, its a combination of T90 pellets, Cryo, and the experimental hop distillate or whatever it is. The later two consist of less matter so they can hop it at way higher rates without trashing their yield.

 

I'm up for a run around PP that then ends at OH, but no way would I be able to keep with y'all doing 12 miles. Let me know when you want to do the kiddie version. Maybe we can make this an official OH race. Top five times get to choose the next 5 releases.

 

Any pace / any distance (within reason). People can always drop in/out for part of it

I'm down if it's on the early side this weekend. I live in Cobble Hill and 2 loops of PP and back would be what I need to do this week. I usually od my long run on Sundays but can adjust to Saturday if anyone is around.
