The problem with FH IPAs is now normal IPAs just won’t measure up. Will have to go to the darker side for awhile and then revisit IPAs in the spring*.

(*just kidding, Bodhi and Lucille will still be in my fridge; but others?)

Fremont Head Full of Fresh Hops is pretty damn terrific. @66jzmstr is right about the bitterness: it IS brash. Just the way I like it. The proper foil for all that juiciness.

Trying a pint of Lagunitas born yesterday. I'm not impressed. There's very little wet hop character, and virtually no bitterness.

This is a pretty vivid reminder just how good we have it here in the NW when it comes to wet hop beer scene. Almost every fresh hop beer I've tried this year from NW breweries has been better than the born yesterday.

Bend Brewing Fresh Trop (Mosaic, canned 1/01/19) is GREAT!

Completely agree. Er, ah... And I assume you meant it was canned on 10/1/19.

(though I would love it if this beer was still being made in January)

Yep, I did mean 10/01/19. Appreciate the heads-up. I was enjoying the beer so much I didn't bother proofreading my post.

I have moved on to a can of Citra Slicker from Bale Breaker and Cloudburst. This, too, is great stuff.

Fresh Trop and Citra Slicker both have long-lasting waves of residual bitterness that put a big ol' smile on my face.

Drinking a glass of fh bodhi at long last. As expected and advertised, it's quite good. Not sure how much is left, but at least for now, still on tap at the horsebrass.

Did anyone get to try the de Garde/Monkish fresh hop collab? No hopes I'll score a can myself, but would love to hear people's thoughts on it.

Now imbibing a wee glass of Fremont's head full of hops. Quite pleasant.

Wife and I are leaving on a 3 week trip to China and Tibet this Thursday. Rumor has it that fh beers are in very short supply over there. So am trying to get my fill now.

    So far so good.

And I see that beer o'clock has the BB fresh trop on tap today. Hmmm...

Yes, but you’re just in time for FH yak milk season.

I had three fresh hops in Japan last year, so don't rule it out entirely.

Except I'm not a big sour fan, unfortunately. :sunglasses:

Still, will try to keep an open mind should I see some.

Now drinking a glass of BB fresh trop at beer o'clock. Good, but I think it was better out of the can.

A friend was kind enough to give me a can and it was very good, definitely the best FH hazy I've had. The amount of hop bite is similar to what you get with GN's FH from what I recall (haven't had theirs this year).

I need to get over to Fremont before that Mosaic FH collab with Humble Sea blows.

As @NWer noted, a couple days ago the hobos ventured south and hit a couple new breweries. 5 Rights was a worthy stop, and they still had a bunch of FH brews on tap. I had their Wobbly the Laborer was good, but definitely past prime (the othe 2 I had were their base Pale, and a Saison). IIRC, they had 5 of their own FH brews on, and 5-6 guest FH beers.

Also had a FH Amarillo at Whitewall, and a beer called Seasonal Shift at Skookum (which I assume was FH, didn't actually ask), who also had a few other FH on tap.

There was also a stop at Swinnerton Brewery, but that's a story for another thread.
