It's pretty good and that's about it. The restaurant around the corner is a better pizza, though you'd have to be one for things like hometown bbq pizza and such.

I had friends from Florida visiting this weekend and opted for some Paulie Gee's slice shop pizzas. Their review was similar to your review and left them wondering what the ny pizza hype is. Aside from some of the most incredible spots, I think NYC is generally fine, be it a 99 cent slice or a Paulie Gee's slice. Our floor for pizza quality is high and it's rare to have a really bad slice, though I'd lump any of the cornmeal pizzas into that category.

Perhaps not an entirely hot take? https://www.theinfatuation.com/new-york/guides/best-pizza-nyc

Paulie Gee's slice shop is overrated, or at least overpriced. Paul Gee's restaurant is much better.

Haven't been to Razza yet but heard amazing things.

Back to beer talk, where are these surprises they promised? Is it just ROC beers they're bringing down?

Yea I would put it probably 15-20 on my list of top pizza in NYC.

Since I know what’s coming next, my top 5 (in no order; it’s hard to decide and changes by the day):

    L&B

Bleeker (just the nonno slice; it is top of its class)

Sam’s (old school Italian restaurant on Court St in Carol Gardens which has been around for 60+ years. My family has been going for decades, so maybe I am a bit biased. However, the pizza is stellar and the main dishes are out of this world)

    Lucali

New Park (while far as hell from center NYC, it is still Queens)

How's the current batch of Double Space Daydream? The last one was really disappointing but when it's good it might be my favorite.

Its just okay I think? Honestly probably my least favorite out of the three I picked up last weekend, Syrup Caddy was surprisingly good.

I'm guessing they'll either be posted tonight or early tomorrow morning. Kinda hoping its the Trillium collab but I doubt they'd piss off the mules with such short notice.

Just had double sunset yirg and it yet again reaffirmed that OH stouts are essentially liquid diabetes. It was so disgustingly sweet and there was no coffee present what so ever.

You would think I would have learned my lesson by now.

Emerald Cities was quite tasty though. Did they ever can that?

They did, I had one can and really enjoyed it. The Roc beers are definitely improving, I haven't found them as thin/watery as the first few.

yeah. Better than last batch, but not up to snuff compared to earlier ones.

Had it last night followed by the small galaxy everything and enjoyed that one much more. Sad face emoji.

Yea the Small Galaxy and Hop Showers w/ Galaxy were both awesome. I'll also shill the Syrup Caddy again, I think that's been my favorite take on the smoothie/dessert berliner they've done. Its not crazy thiccc like some of them and not as cloyingly sweet, it hits the notes people want out of these beers but its much more balanced.

L&B is obviously great and imo the best in nyc

You guys are killing Paulie Gee's though. The Freddie Prince is their best slice, but also a totally different crumb structure than L&B(that sesame seed undercoat). ALSO...you can get a great beer either on draft or in a can.

I went to F&F recently and that's a new top tier spot for sure and close to OH.

To be clear I enjoyed the pizza (and to clarify I went to restaurant not the slice place), I just don’t think it’s worthy of all the hype / praise / number one in NYC stuff. To me it’s on a similar level to a lot of those places. Although for that type of pizza I still prefer Roberta’s
