    Bought a second box tonight.

Pissed off a colleague at work today(for a good cause)... and rightfully so (meaning he was right to be pushed at me)... thought I’d atone by some retail therapy supporting a business I love... and who has a huge supporter I’ve pissed off too.

Damn, I piss a lot of people off. That sucks! Oh well... lots of kissing and making up to do,

Grey Monday Hug anyone!?!? Cap? Nick? Pat? Buller?

    Cheers!

In the 4-6 weeks I've opened 2, So happens its tuesdays 2018s, and had a pour of it at Uncle Henrys in Downey, all of them tasting infected. Anyone else getting this?

And a side note, I let the people know at Uncle Henry's that it's tasting infected and the bartender agrees with me and says "I know that but they wont do anything" and a few minutes later I hear him telling someone higher up and the guy tells him that's how it's supposed to taste

    Pretty disappointing

Is it the 2018 vintage that actually has an etched bottle date in December 2017? If so I think that's the known bad batch... Unless I'm off a year.

I had a 2018 375 not long ago and it was fine.

I'm probably weird, because most people love it, but my take on Grand Reserve is that it tastes like someone poured bourbon straight into a bottle of BT. It's super boozy and hot, and not in an enjoyable/balanced way like most of the Bruery's high-octane offerings.

This is kinda how I felt about the Grand Reserve that came in that Hoarder Box last year. I'm keeping my expectations in check.

The one released last year. I still have a bottle with coffee I need to drink

Do you think aging this for a crazy long time (like more than 5 years) might make this a treat later on? I am considering just putting it at the back of my collection and forgetting about it.

Aging for several years is always a gamble. Some beers have a reputation for improving with age, but nothing is for certain, especially for that long. When I have only one bottle of something new, I nearly always drink it fresh (so I know if I even want to track down another or not). That said, BT and BT variants do seem to hold up very well with age so it's not a crazy proposition!

I actually did have it fresh already and agree with the above statements about the beer. So at this point it feels like I might as well*

Plus, the nice thing about this thread is in a year someone will try one and share notes, and you can reassess whether to keep aging or drink then.

Sorry to seem like such a noob, but can someone tell me if BA removed the tickets for sale section? I couldn't find it and need to see if anyone wants to buy BT tickets for this Saturday from 8:30-11pm. I've got 3.

Drinking my last Black & Blue & Red All Over with Vanilla. Wouldn’t be mad If the next small batch box was just 12 bottles of this.

Drank a 2009 World Wide Stout and some of my 2013 and earlier BCBS recently. They were all fine but for the most part they've been cellar temp or cooler in the time I've had them. I'm drinking a Cuvee de Tomme from 2014 or sooner right now and that beer isn't showing any off signs either. As far as Black Tuesday, I drank a 2013 recently as well and that beer was fantastic. Beer can be aged for a long time if you treat it right.

Definitely some good ones there. My favorite aging candidates are BSDAs, barleywines and old ales. BCBS one of the first and still one of the best BA Stouts for aging (peaks at ~5 years for me). Looking forward to eventually cracking my vertical that goes back to 2007. I’ve also got some scattered years of Rochefort 10 back to 2003 that I crack every so often for science. If you like BSDAs, I think Cuvee Van De Keizer Blauw is one of the best with age.

If it didn’t come in a BT box I would not be able
to guess Spicy Island was a variant rather than its own thing. paradigm shift from BT. Better mouthfeel and kept its head. Wish all variants shared those characteristics.

It was not a hot mess as was expected.

Oh, good. So it wasn't just me. I've only opened 3 out of 4, but I thought that SI was way more carbonated than the others. Poured mine into one of those BT anniversary party mini wine glasses from a year or two ago that I've not used before. So I just chalked it up to the glass or a little dust. Have to keep an eye on those bottles.

BT17 archive sale is a surprise - both quantity and the lack of a markup. I drank one last month and it was fantastic... though I stocked up so much last year and this year's vintages I think my quantity on hand is fine as-is. Tempting though.

2017 was the Imperial Brown Ale BT, right?
