Pretty interested to try waffling. I feel like this is the sort of thing where if OH made it, it would sound tempting, but almost certainly be a bit too much. But with Grimm's more restrained hand...who knows. Plus the Kane factor of course

I feel the exact same way. I’m giving them the benefit of the doubt cause I was very skeptical of Cinnamon Babka but it came out amazing

Was planning an OH run this Saturday but may have to change it to Grimm given the Kane collab. That stout sounds intriguing.

It’s also walkable from The Well if you’re into Hudson Valley cans.

Thanks for the heads up. Been a while since I had HV stuff so I’ll definitely make the trip now.

What’s the verdict on Waffling. IIRC (I was a few beers deep at that point) someone at the OH meetup mentioned their friend had tried it and wasn’t particularly impressed. But I may be wrong / they may be an outlier.

Was hoping to pick up the Jester King collabo this week, but looks like it sold out at the brewery. Any chance any of it made it to distro?

I know there are some recommendations on the first page...looking for a recommendation for either a quick bite to bring to eat at the brewery or to grab lunch after...anything that is cant miss in the area?

Roberta’s. Although place inside Grimm is solid

Nothing great in the immediate area that I know of, but people speak highly of the quality and quantity of the shawarma at Grimm itself.

I’m taking it by the lack of responses that this didn’t blow any minds?

Gotta do roberta's! Though the food at Grimm is solid. Interboro usually has solid food options as well

I'm pretty sure no beer has ever "blown my mind"—that's a high bar to clear and generally reserved for more consequential things—but I enjoyed the one pour I had very much. Enough, in fact, to have grabbed a couple bottles. If I didn't rush to reply, it's because I'm reticent and skeptical about the degree that one person's experience could readily translate to another's.

You mentioned yourself that Grimm, particularly with their pastry stouts, tends to be more restrained. And that delicacy and nuance is on display with this one, which didn't bludgeon me with syrupy sweetness and over-the-top adjunct flavors the way OH stouts typically do. But it also struck me as surprisingly light and more like an imperial brown than a bold and hefty stout. My impressions may change when I revisit it, but that's what I think of it now.*

*(I'm sure I don't also need to mention that your personal tastes may lead you to a completely different verdict.)
