I'm going to be in Richmond Friday afternoon. I'm assuming it will be business as usual here other than these shenanigans? I just want to go to brewery, sit, and drink delicious beer.

Well I’m not sure what exactly you mean by “business as usual”, but you should be able to go to the brewery and drink beer without a problem. There will be long draft lines but that’s business as usual.

If you don't want to deal with long lines and a lot of people then you should probably avoid The Answer or Veil then. There's definitely no shortage of other really good breweries in RVA to where you could show up later in the afternoon at either of those and it will hopefully not be as packed.

Yea, business as usual means there will be lines but I can be in the brewery and drink. I'm fully expecting it to be a busy crowded weekend. I just don't care to stand in a line for hours upon hours. I've been to most of the breweries there on my past trips. I plan on really only hitting Veil, Answer and Final Gravity. Possibly Hardywood. Is Xmas Pancakes out yet?

The Answer & Veil will both be much busier than most days of the year, and the lines at Veil will be much longer than usual, but you should be able to sit and drink. The Answer could be difficult to get a seat depending on the time. Xmas pancakes is out and you can find bottles pretty easily at bottle shops or obviously at Hardywood.

Not that you need more options for the weekend but don’t forget about Triple Crossing. I personally would swap that out for Hardywood.

I do love The Answer and often see regulars giving shout outs for their great service but honestly find their promptness is pretty slow. Granted they are busy most of the time but there's been many times I've stood / sat at the bar for 10-15 minutes before someone got around to taking my order for pours / flights / Crowlers. So if you have not been before just be prepared for slow service. If you plan to eat there then it would probably be best to have the host / hostess seat you at a table. I've found service is generally better / quicker for those seated at tables and not at the bar whether it be those seated or standing.

If you are looking for other GBS variants than Christmas Pancakes be sure to check out West Creek. It's an impressive venue for one and AB Mega GBS was brewery only. They still had bottles earlier in the week. They also still has Fluffy GBS and Kentucky Christmas Pancakes on draft leftover from GBS Fest last weekend. Bottles of those were only available to those complete set pre-orders so draft will be the only way to try those if you didn't order a set.

Just to be all, "called it" but also i love the raffle approach.

Friday, November 29th for Dark Daze, will be the debut of Double Vanilla Apple Brandy Toast-E Coilz ⠀

Double Vanilla Apple Brandy Toast-E Coilz is a french toast inspired Imperial Oatmeal Stout with maple syrup, cinnamon, and DOUBLE VANILLA! It’s a collaborative effort with @monkishbrewing, @cloudwaterbrew, @otherhalfnyc, @trilliumbrewing. Tastes like french toast drenched in maple syrup with powdered sugar and extra vanilla and marshmallows on top! An extremely tasty and rare variant of Toast-E Coilz. 12% ABV. ⠀

    Approx. 70x 500ml bottles - $45.00 each. ⠀
    1x 500ml bottle pp. limit. ⠀
    *Limits subject to change* ⠀

**To be fair to our babies, we’ve made “raffle cards” for the opportunity to purchase a bottle of Double Vanilla Apple Brandy Toast-E Coilz. We have printed 600 cards total and there will be only 75 winners randomly dispersed throughout. Each card will say either “sorry” or “sup?!”. Each card will be sealed in a dark envelope. Security will hand you an envelope with your raffle card inside when they wristband you once everyone is in line in our parking lot. If you receive a card with “sup?!” you will be able to purchase 1x bottle of Double Vanilla Apple Brandy Toast- E Coilz when you get to the register. All winning raffle cards MUST be redeemed by close(10pm) on Friday November 29th. We will not honor winning raffle cards after that time. ⠀

I'm surprised no one is talking about Triple Crossing - that barleywine release they have sounds fantastic!

I actually prefer Triple C to Hardywood as well. I know my girlfriend will like Pancakes so I thought I'd grab a bottle for her.

Thanks for the info on West Creek. I may try to make it there, not sure if I'll have time. We are busy with family, etc.

I assume if Answer is packed so is Mekong? I love that food after drinking!

70 bottles and 75 winning raffle tickets, that should be interesting!

Mekong shouldn’t be too bad. Doubt it will be nearly as packed as Answer and it’s a quick walk around front.

There’s still a line but it’s in the parking lot. The line wraps around a few times so it’s hard to tell an exact count. It’s moving slow but better than last year.

Hell I didn't go over until Saturday and they had plenty of stuff left. Didn't buy any, haha, but plenty left. Those were some steep prices. The Vanilla Rye Whangdoodle was absolutely amazing I thought. It was my favorite. Then I'd say Vanilla Maple Apple Brandy and the Sleeping Forever.

Much smoother dark daze this year, lots of bottles left well into the evening. Agree with above, the vr whang was really great.

A very special beer, I would say the best of the day. Pallbearer and VR Whang tied for second imo. Great event and it was much better ran than previous years.

EDIT: The post was WOTW but the picture associated with the post from Black Heath shows the bottles as the Double Bourbon Double Vanilla WOTW
