Looks like there are quite a few low calorie beers popping up.

lots of people wishing lagers. I think that's a sentimental thought, but I don't think the old will be new again. Unless it's a totally new kind of lager - like how the current IPA trends are so different than traditional British IPAs. I think whatever the next trend is going to be, will be an entirely new style, or new ingredients or brewing techniques.

Have you noticed sudwerk trying to bring the lager into the hip beer fold? They've been doing tasty hazy ipls for a couple years and I just saw cans of a "pastry Baltic porter" on the shelves the other day

I still think these are a desperate attempt at keeping/attracting the consumers that would be much happier drinking alcoholic seltzer.

And I reckon that the Brewers are doing the right thing by offering low calorie, low abv offerings, whether it's a direct counter to the seltzers or not. Some are doing both. Viva la variety!!

Yes I have - and I like them for it. They've been doing Big DIPL for several years, and I'm surprised it hasn't gotten more popular. I'd see Sudwerks' new take on lagers becoming more of a trend than traditional lager styles. I'm sure you remember it wasn't that long ago that Sudwerks was on the verge of insolvency when they went this new direction, and while they are no Sierra Nevada, they've put themselves back on solid footing.

Ya their rotating hazy ipls were some of my favorite beers of the year last year, and I think Bombus, brewed with local malt and their own hops, was possibly my favorite new to me hippy beer. I was also pleasantly surprised when I visited the tap room to see that they are still rocking all their traditional styles as well and in fact only had 2 of their newer school offerings on tap. They've certainly raised their profile in my eyes with their efforts in the last 24 months

Yeah, the 4% and below beer market will grow this year; and hopefully that's in addition to the Lagerenaissance most of us (?) seem to be at least hoping for.
just had an Outer Range Iota (session) last night at 3.3% that actually TASTED like something. That was a good sign... among many others.

Now that I can't drink beer I predict a domino effect situation of breweries and their suppliers going out of business.

    I'm guessing more session ales.

Everybody is going to start enjoying funk and horse blanket and blended, cool ship, foeder aged, wild ales will be all the rage.

I would like to see more sessionable beers. After the Session IPA’s a couple of years a go, a new trend could be Micro IPA with an ABV between 2% and 4%.

Also less gimmicky adjuncts in beer without knowing what kind of influence it has on the brew.
