KCBC Tech Noir. Excellent imperial milk stout. Dense black pour, lasting head retention/foamy lacing. Aromas and flavors of huge milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, vanilla, cream, molasses, roasted nuts, toasted biscuit, and dark bread/crust; with lighter notes of licorice, toffee, raisin, prune, fig, date, smoke, charcoal, leather, tobacco, wood, herbal, grass, peppercorn, pine, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Light-moderate pine, herbal, woody, grassy, peppery, roast, charred bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation and very full body; very creamy/silky/velvety/bready malts, some sticky/chalky roast, and light slickness on the mouthfeel. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering hop/char bitterness; no cloying/acrid/astringency. Dangerously smooth/soft, mild increasing warmth of 12%. Awesome balance of super rich malt, cocoa nibs, vanilla, and lactose flavors; with nice earthy hop presence and restrained fruity yeast. Light residual sweetness with lingering dryness. A bit too bitter/drying that expected, but overwhelming. No complaints otherwise. 4.03

First had a Rohrbach Instruments of Darkness. 10% milk stout. Pleasantly surprised at how good it was. Locals usually aren’t adept at the stouts, but this was mostly balanced, with a slightly sweet finish.

The Narwhal is solid as always. More bitterness up front than the Rohrbach, which puts the latter at a slight advantage for me.

[IMG] This one is just down right tasty! Night all. I personally love when a BIG brewery comes out with a great beer at a great price. This is a treat.

Hey @Prager62, something's wrong with this beer you sent me. It came in a 16 oz can like it's supposed to, but it's clear and doesn't taste like orange juice. What's up?

Rainy day calls for a stout. No ABV info on the can, but it tastes about 7-8% to me.

The coffee and hazelnut play well together with the chocolate base. Really well balanced. I may prefer a tad more roast, but this is good and wife approved.

    Thanks @KevSal !

I’m with you. I think cans do something funky, imparting some bad juju ions.

Congratulations on Derek Jeter making it on first ballot, but not even Babe Ruth or Ty Cobb were inducted unanimously. Jeter's credentials were consistent with the bottom four of six I would have voted for this year.

JAWS scores for six I would have voted for with a ballot this year:

    Elite:
    1. Bonds (117.8 vs.53.6 average HOF LF)
    2. Clemens (102.5 vs. 62.5 average HOF SP)

Slightly Above Average at respective HOF position:
    3. Schilling (64.1 vs. 62.5 average HOF SP)
    4. Walker (58.7 vs. 56.8 average HOF RF)
    5. Jeter (57.4 vs. 55.0 average HOF SS)
    6. Rolen (56.9 vs. 55.7 average HOF 3B)

Hall of Fame Shortstop JAWS scores:
    Honus Wagner 98.1
    Alex Rodriguez 91.0

    Cal Ripken 76.1

    George Davis 64.5
    Robin Yount 62.3
    Arky Vaughn 61.8

    Ernie Banks 59.7
    Ozzie Smith 59.7
    Luke Appling 59.2
    Alan Trammel 57.8
    Derek Jeter 57.4
