Genetic Brewing in Lake Mary is now open with limited hours. Look at their sites for more info.
Looks like they are making funky beers which we need more of in Orlando. I hope they make some styles that will make we want to hang out instead of just have a flight or 2.

Yeah that plaza isn't the greatest location but let's hope the beer is worth it

Stopped by tonight on their second day of opening. They definitely have some stuff to figure out on what I’m hoping was a very “soft”’ opening.

Don’t go expecting a “brewery”. It’s homebrew with taps. The beer was fine, but it’s not gonna be your “brewery” experience. Once the opening weekend crowds slow down it will probably be a cool place to sit and talk beer and homebrewing. They don’t have the inventory or space to support what the average consumer thinks they are gonna get at a brewery.

Did you try any of their beer?

If so what did you think?

I had the cherry sour, smoked sour and stout. All were good. Nothing amazing, but enjoyable beers. The blond was kicked by the time I showed up.

there is a bar on the second floor of chocolate factory with good drinks. Usually no wait as people don’t know it’s there,

Gene Said they have the ability to make 2bbl per day. Not sure where or how they are fermenting them as I did not see any fermenters. The beers I had were pretty good for a brand new. Place... by far better than anything OCB Lk mary is or was putting out. He said He had beer in the cooler and would put kegs on as his beers ran out. I think He put a Mango sour on after the blonde kicked.

Genetic is going to hark back to that small start up brewery experience that has not been in orlando in a really long time. As for the brewing equipment. Its a just a much smaller version of what Rock Pit uses (7bbl) and they put out some phenomenal beer. I for one will be happy to give them a chance considering they guest taps were pretty good and the prices were not out of wack.. I see them only being on open 3-4 days a week until they can keep up with demand.

Thanks for the feedback on Ellipsis. Looks like cans will be iffy at best. Are there any good beer spots on the western side of the city? (Brewery or shop) Seems like most places that get mentioned here are east of I-4.

Message Ellipsis on Facebook and ask what cans are available. They generally reply promptly

More than likely they'll have cans in the cooler along with crowlers of most things on draft. Cans might not be freshies, but they'll be available. Don't not go cause you're not sure cans will be available.

They had three cans available, a stout, NEIPA and a Berliner. Grabbed a couple. Thanks everyone.

Heard the landlord was not happy with having a brewry in the plaza and put horrible conditions on the guy that was going to reopen it.

That plaza is so old I bet the owner has had it paid off for years. So his costs are probably fixed and he would rather have quieter tennants. Not clue why, thats just what I heard from someone close to the situation.
