So I really like Central Waters Brewery however I recently tried their bourbon barrel barleywine and I thought it was awful. Now let me first say that this was my first barleywine I had ever tried but I just was not a fan. It poured extremely thick and was chewy. It also had an extreme alcohol aftertaste. I even let it rest and warm up a little to see if would taste any different and it was still bad in my opinion. I guess I will need to try another brew, perhaps Bolt Cutter to see if it was just this one or I simply don't like barleywines, but I had to pour this one out.

Shock Top End Of the World Midnight Wheat only lasted for two swigs. The concept of chocolate and chili works... just not in this swill.

gigaknight Yeah? That beer ruined my credit, screwed my sister, and threw up in the trunk of my car.
Alright, all three of those were actually me, but the beer is also to blame.

Wait what? am I the only one who caught that?

One other brew I had to drain pour was Stone Ruination. I know it is a great IPA but it wasjust way too hoppy for me. I guess I don't like hoppy beers very much but I did have PtE two days ago and enjoyed it much more. I could not even get through a couple of sips of the Stone. Just my humble opinion but I know many people like the Stone brew.

    I
I also drain poured Sam Adams 13th Hour. It was just not something I enjoyed either. It wasn't that I thought it was horrible, just not worth drinking when I have many other great brews in my cellar. But I can cross that one off my list now too!

I dont agree at all. I think they still make pretty damn good beer. Although, my favorites definitely seem to be the older brews (Indian Brown and Chicory Stout). I need to try their 750s. I dont think they sacrificed their standards at all. Sam seems like a genuinely nice guy and still VERY passionate. I think its awesome how creative he is.

I wish they didnt change their recipe. I liked how low the malt was in the profile. Now it just tastes a run of the mill IPA.

Great Divide Hercules DIPA. Took a risk with no date on it and got burned badly. This wasn't a case of snobbery because the beer was more than 10 minutes old. Rather, it really tasted like they somehow forgot to add hops completely. 0 bitterness.

My other horror story involves Boaks Monster Mash. Tasted like Pup-peroni treats.

I would sincerely hope their collaboration with Birra Del Borgo and La Baladin is to be admired. For what it is worth, Dogfish Head is thus far the first to collaborate with any Italian breweries.

I had to drain pour this twice:

Sadly because both bottles were infected! I had this on tap and it was truly amazing! Quite sad to have both bottles infected...

Yes, it was. I still remember the awful murky, brown appearance of the Abita Christmas Ale last year. And the taste was just as bad. Ended up pouring that whole six-pack down the drain.

I'm kinda shocked that people don't like Dragons Milk. I like the stuff a lot.

as for me my first beer(thanks to my grandfathers humor) was Bud. that got spewed in the direction of the drain...
and the Rouge Voodoo bacon maple poison hellfirewaste of money also was dumped rather than poured...

Thats funny/sad you should say that...I had to drain pour their Monks Brew. Really flat and pretty sour (not in a good way). The thing that sucks is you're out a good amount of money. Their stuff isnt cheap.
