I dont think that event has the amount of and size of beer nerds that attend Hunaphu's day.

Anecdotally, a lot of the big line nerds are skipping out on Huna this year, at least the local Tampa ones.

This is going to be my first TBBW and first Huna Day but I can easily see why this would be the case.

While I was planning my week I found that most of the events from high profile breweries (Cycle, AC, Arkane) were also set up as festival-style plus built-in bottle purchases that cannot be opted out of. If you want to try all of the TBBW Cycle Beers you need to get a ticket to BA Day. If you want all of the AC beers you need a ticket to an even more expensive event. If you want to try their collab beers, there's a third expensive event. It's understandable that people would need to set priorities on what to be a part of when so many breweries are attempting to make as much money as possible that week.

As an aside: I offered to break out Huna VIP sets earlier in this thread and got two replies total. I'm thinking the love affair with Huna may be on the rocks...

It's just that it's fairly easy to get for anyone, partly because of those that get huge allotments and need to offload such as yourself. Huna is still a great beer. And the fest has historically been one of the greatest, as far as variety and number of breweries bringing big time brews, location, even food. Hope it's just as great for everyone going this year...
    Don't forget Arkane!

Moving it to Friday made alot of us line nerds choose between BA Day and Huna... all the unknowns with Huna made it an easy choice.

Arkane is having a little fest but they are also releasing bottles every morning of TBBW.
AC RAD beer-- most of the beers available at the event will be tapped at AC the days after...
AC/Cycle Confection / Affection is limited to just 200 tickets. so its not a huge affair.

There are so many more events happening around the area all week that do not have entry costs.

Huna Day--- the fact that as of this morning you can still buy Huna day tickets means that they are not selling very well. This will be the first year since 2013 that I am not going to Huna. Too many variables with the new venue... plus I really dont want to try and walk up stairs at the amalie with beer,.

If you are looking for a great event for Saturday, Hit up Huna hangover day at 7th Sun in Tampa. Great chill event.

To use a faded meme, "If I wanted to try all of those TBBW beers I would simply go to every brewery every day."

The allure of these events -- aside from .rar loot -- is that you have guaranteed access to all of the pours and don't have to crisscross all around town to try everything. That's absolutely worth a premium. However, if several breweries use this model it has a limiting effect. Unfortunately for CCB, their event has one of the highest barriers to entry and takeaway bottles that everyone is convinced they can get for cost, and maybe less than cost in terms of trade value.

This isn't lost on me. I get that there are plenty of events around town, not least of which being Hangover Day*. My point is that eventually Festival Fatigue kicks in and many people will ask themselves, "why am I giving CCB $200++ when I can get more value for my dollar somewhere else"

*If I hadn't gotten a Confection Affection ticket I totally would've gone to the Dunedin location for Hangover Day. Instead I'll be weaving between two hotels and taking what I expect will be some expensive Lyfts to and from Nebraska Mini Mart. I've probably made the wrong choice...

Oh god damn. So jealous. I wish. First year not coming to TBBW in a while. Enjoy!

Drinking for several hours and then walking half a mile with valuable bottles seems like a recipe for disaster. Exhibit A: every Dark Lord Day video.

I've heard of some people attempting Hangover, confection, and foudre. I wonder how bad there uber rating will be after that day.

I have to get at least one of those Krispy Kreme donut beers every year at 7venth.

Beer nerds, no. But from a size perspective I hear it is packed with young drunk people trying to get the most of their $30 all you can drink ticket. I've never been but have heard some people talk about it on relation to how they think Hunahpus will go, at least from a crowd size point of view.

Hunahpu Day has been mostly just for out of towners in recent years as locals have pretty much moved on from that event

This isn't really true at all. The crowds at Huna are relatively tame and mature. You're painting the picture of dark lord day or something. I don't think I've seen one person fall over drunk at Huna

Nebraska Mini Mart and 7th Sun Tampa are 1.4 miles from each other. We plan on going to 7th after CA on Saturday. Not that big of a deal. But I am an adult and know better than to get shitty drunk...

Me? I'm saying the summer time event is full of young people looking to get drunk(or that's what I've been told). I'm just trying to mention that another beer fest happens in that venue(maybe a more crowded and intoxicated event) so it's not uncharted territory for Hunahpus day to happen there. I think Hunahpus will be a bit more restrained than a cheap beer fest targeting early 20s kids and sounds like that the cheap fest has worked for a few years.

Anyone have a way to extract all the guest taps to post here? If there is one. Curious what people are bringing this year.
