Haven't gone over to grab one yet, but, yesterday Gruff bottled a 19% (No, not a typo.19) IMPIPA. Expect further details at my earliest chance.

If DFH can do it, why not Gruff?

That being said, just because you CAN do it, doesn't mean you should. I'm looking forward to hearing further details. :sunglasses:

The first outside source I heard feedback from said it was good, but had a lot of hop burn. Said his tummy wasn't feeling that good this morning. He, also, didn't say how much of it he drank.

Not a Washington beer question but I didn't want to start a new thread so consider this slightly off-topic: A Deal With The Devil is a beer on my must have before I die list. Tavour offered 16 oz cans of the stuff for $50! Really? Is any barleywine worthy of such a price? They sold out quickly and I passed.

I've never had it, and wouldn't pay that price, simply because between JW Lee's, Fremont's brew 2/3/4k, Pelican's MoaS, I could have a remarkable experience, especially if I had the patience. The only style of pay those prices for are lambic, either from 3 Fonteinen, Cantillon and Tilquin.

Just for clarification: 1-16 oz can=$50? Including shipping, or plus shipping?

    Either way, HARD FUCKING NO!

It's a really good beer. REALLY good, by my standards. 3 dollars an ounce good?

    AWW, fuck no.

I think I drank my aged bottle, but I'll check, and if I still have it, we'll split it next we meet.

    Even then.....

For me, that price is the occasional treat.
DeuS, is what I'll happily drop that coin on.

    Everyone's mileage will vary.

I passed as well. $50/16oz just isn't ok.

It was $50 plus their $15 flat shipping fee.

They also had 750s of Hommage for $62.

    Much fun, such beer.

Just for fun, the Deal With the Devil cans were only $35 if you pre-ordered to pick up at the brewery.

Wow! So it sounds like the $50 charge is likely pretty close to the normal price now. The last time I purchased it, 750 ML bottles at the Bier Stein in Eugene were in the $30 range. That was roughly 5 or 6 years ago and I thought that a pretty high price even then (it's a good BA barleywine, but I didn't exactly feel as if I was having some sort of epiphany when I drank it). I remember thinking that the price would likely drop over time, as I didn't think the quality of the beer really justified the price. Guess I was mistaken.

6-7 years ago i had extraordinary luck drinking and acquiring ADWTD. Both Belmont and Baileys had batch 1 and 2 drinking events that were not at all overpriced or crowded. and then when the first corked and caged bottles hit portland retail i grabbed 2 bottles, and then when the regular cap bottles dropped the next year, the Whole Foods on NE Sandy (of all places) got 12 bottles that sat on the shelf for weeks. I bought 6 of them over the course of a month as i would grab one each time i went in the store because i couldnt believe they were still there.

i rambled all of that off to say HELL NO for a $35 16oz can. lmao. its a great beer, but that is stupid

To add insult to injury, it's $50 for the can and then $15 for the flat rate shipping fee. No matter how much beer you also buy from Tavour, it's still gonna be $65 to get ADWTD.

Oh, stuff like Hommage is, on average, a once in a decade purchase for me. No way I can justify dropping that kind of coin on 1 beer on anything approaching a regular basis.

Ya it used to be $30 a bottle and that was a ripoff too. Anchorage can seriously fuck off with a $50 waxed can. They recently put out a beer called Greed and that says it all...

Crazy that Washington Brewers festival is cancelled. I haven't gone in a while but that at marymoor for Father's day was quite a tradition.

Greed! Did you say Greed? In this case, greed is good.

From Tavour. For a slightly higher price and $15 shipping I get beers I probably wouldn't get otherwise delivered to my doorstep. I'm fine with that. I don't want to get into being a fanboy of Travour but it gets better if you choose. Join their subscription plan and there's a 12% discount and free shipping.
