I'm not sure I believe they were the initial buyer. But semantics aside I do not enjoy stouts with that much age on them and have never personally found aging a beer does anything positive for the beer. To log on to an app that specializes in handpicked curated beers and not be able to buy over half of the items on the page is asinine. Maybe my expectations are too high. Maybe I should simply give them all my cash and they can send me some lagers because its cool.
Until the pandemic, I generally found that the vast majority of the beers were available to purchase - since the pandemic I think supply and demand has taken over ... its not like because its an app they have unlimited numbers of bottles/cans. Plus, even if they are waitlisted, eventually, a lot of the time, they will become available again once all the pending orders are fulfilled. Idk, its not for everyone, so no big deal.
Agree....before I deleted the app pre virus 99% of the beer offered was still available days later, only a few sold out fast. Enjoy
I'm pretty sure they would have to be. Perhaps they are able to have bought them from another retailer, but it's not like they could've scoured ebay for 'empty' bottles and then stocked up an resold them. It's pretty likely that Fremont held on to them and then made them available vs. Tavour sitting on them for 5 years, but I do think that tavour probably had to buy them directly from Fremont
Favours website offers a place for an individual to sell their beer as well. Either way I'm going to keep LURKING on their app and maybe grab some beers if I see anything that catches my fancy but as of now I'm not convinced it's worth all the hype.
I'm pretty sure that the "sell your beer" section of their website is not for individuals to just offer whatever they have in their cellar for sale. It reads to me like a page that describes to breweries who are interested in selling through Tavour just how it works.
Tavour got a new headline. Now it no longer says waitlisted on some beers it says sold out. Never seen that before
Their app has been super wonky - they've changed my shipping date now 4 times in the last 3 days including to a date 5 days in the past ... I don't know what the heck is going on at this point.
I will say if I joined tavour in the past 2 weeks I would not be impressed with this app. Stuff selling out left and right. Only getting 1-3 new beers daily, only things that seem to stick are things that are >$50. It’s almost as if you don’t buy when you first look at it you won’t get it, so no longer thinking about it.
I've got a box open currently with 10 items in it: 5 stouts and 5 sours/wild ales. I was hoping to add some fresh IPA's in there before sending it off, but the pickings have been very slim. I currently have nothing in my app that isn't waitlisted. I keep delaying shipping for a week hoping to sneak a few more cans in, but I'm not sure it's going to happen. I'm also not in a hurry with the recent talk of them changing peoples' shipping dates. I guess I'll just keep watching for the time being.
I've been using Tavour since 2016, never had any complaints. Was always happy with the selections, availability and shipping. Since COVID19, however, they've definitely gone downhill. Most likely due to high demand I'd assume. Not a whole lot of new beers popping up anymore, and those that do, are gone instantly. At least I managed to pick up that lager mixed 12 pack. Will probably get that shipped, then stop using Tavour for the foreseeable future.
I used to check the app every day or two. Now, it needs to be looked at almost every hour or two. With the hot months coming up, it's time for a break. Besides, in the last 6 months, my credit card has been saying "cha-ching" way too often. I don't think Tavour anticipated getting slammed like they are. I have no gripes with them. Cheers.
FWIW, my box, which was delayed one week by me otherwise the standard month (?) is now in shipping. Sorry to hear about those with delays. With mine being 'shipped', it makes me wonder if Tavour is struggling with local couriers again.
Good point. The "signature required" means contact with the driver's device and a much less than 6 foot separation. Ain't nothing the same anymore. I've grown weary of the term "new normal", but I guess it's accurate.
That and with the number of local businesses struggling or halting operations (out of mandated requirement or lack of money), I wouldn't be shocked if some small operation courier businesses were shutting down since they don't have the clientele anymore. Strange times indeed. I have a difficult time mentally processing it from time to time.
my current crate shipped from Tavour on 4/2 and just today I was told it will arrive tomorrow 4/17. I actually had to reach out to my local courier service to request delivery as it was showing as being delivered to them for 4 days with no movement. I’m kind of disappointed but I totally understand the delays with everything going on. Other orders have gotten to me from Seattle in just slightly over a week
Quick Courier Service is who does the final delivery here in the Pgh area, but I’m not sure who it is out East. If you look at the shipping info for your crate it should say who the local courier is
So I downloaded the app and learned that Tavour only adds 2 new beers each day. I feel like it could take forever to fill a box. It would seem that the number of bored people on quarantine would increase demand for more beer.
Estimated arrival date for my case is two weeks. I recall my last case (this time last year) took a long while to arrive. I think their slow shipment time is more of a function of whoever they have shipping from the warehouse to local couriers. It's certainly not an Amazon 2-day type of service, but so long as the beer is arriving and shipping costs remain minimal, I don't mind waiting a few extra days.
