Untitled Art Chocolate Macaroon. Fantastic pastry stout. Aromas and flavors of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coconut, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, cream, fudge, brownie batter, roasted nuts, toasted biscuit, and dark/brown bread; with light notes of molasses, licorice, dark fruit, smoke, char, herbal, grass, pepper, and yeast earthiness. Mild herbal, grassy, spicy, roast, charred bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation and fairly full body; very creamy, silky, velvety, bready malts; light sticky hops, chalky roast in the mouthfeel. Lightly increasing bitter dryness, no cloying, acrid, astringency. Dangerously smooth/soft, mild increasing warmth of 12%, no lingering booze. Amazing balance of super rich malts and flavorings; solid earthy hops, and mild fruity yeast. Not overly sweet/heavy from lingering dryness. Will buy more for sure. Spot on stuff.

I quite enjoyed this for its bold display of Chinook and Columbus hops, with quite a bitter, resinous, but also rather earthy and herbal character that is rounded out nicely by some Citra and Ekuanot, with lighter citrus and tropical accents.

    Can poured into a teku

Two finger soapy white foam cap settles to a solid layer , good lacings over a translucent deep amber liquid

Fragrant aroma of pineapple, carmeluzed pineapple, orange, passion fruit

Taste is citrus with a hint of pine

Medium sudsing, hop nibble , slight bitterness lingers

    Good beer

Of course it is. I would be disappointed otherwise. What havoc and mayhem is on your agenda tonight?

I'm glad I have only two more Navajas but I love this beer. It's abusively good. Resinous sweet pine marmalade forest and some residual bitterness. Even with a 2.26.20 canning date this is still just all kinds of ridiculous. Cheers to all!

Just finishing up as I complete my review of SoS. Ever slightly more bitter but an outstanding brew that reminds me more of a West Coast style like Pliny the Elder. Want to try Double Sunshine now. More Special Thanks @jzeilinger for sharing.

Yes, I've been limiting purchases to newly canned or new releases for the places I cannot see date packaging if I can't grab the cans/bottles and check for dates. The distributor needs to do a better job at rotating, one of the few aspects they can actually provide value to the customer (the store can be diligent as well). I stopped buying beers without published dates for beers you cannot/should not date, unless I am purchasing within a time frame of a well publicized release.

I always get a warm fuzzy feeling when seeing Off Color can art. Have to go there when it warms up next week.

    Second and final pour today,

    Wings by Half Acre.
500 ml bottle 7.9% purchased about 5 weeks ago. A mixed culture beer with fruit (not Stevia like the Delirium Red cough medicine pour from yesterday - glad they disclosed but are artificial sweeteners common in a fruit beer? Sad if so).

    Per the bottle description:

Wings began as a mixed culture Saison brewed with honey that was aged ten months in oak. It was then refermented o Balaton cherries from Northern Michigan.
(no mention of whether this was Michigan proper or the UP, I'm guessing the former)

Fresh Midwestern pie on the rose peels into layers of complexity and a richness reminiscent of cherry wine. Dessert quality decadence with a dry biscuit finish.

This is a solid pour by Half Acre (4.0, 3.75, 4.25, 4.0, 4.0), with the nice tartness and dry balance the Delirium Red lacked. Beer delivered as advertised, very nice compliment to a meal or desert. Half Acre continues to shine across many different styles, one of the several reasons I keep returning for more.

    Cheers all!!!
