    Same guy but it was Triple Crossing brews. Guy works an ungodly number of hours and has no time to get beer unless sold at the convenience store by him. What little free time he has he spends with my daughter and granddaughter so I think it is a small thing I do to give him some good brews now and then.

    Do not feel too sorry for the guy. He does get time to hunt with his dad and brother. Not like when he was single and before having kids but enough to recharge his batteries.

    The look is the same. The smell less intense (but I'm not deducting points for that). There is a very noticeable mellowing to the taste with way less brute booziness upfront although the citrus juiciness has dwindled some. The mouthfeel also has tamed a lot. It's still smooth and rather creamy without the bite and strong acidity I initially noticed with the first beer.

    All in all, nothing has changed rating-wise. What did change was the intense and nearly overpowering booziness and harshness the fresher version had. But, like many NEIPAs especially, the flavor punch also diminishes with age.

    Dirty, dark yellow color, solidly opaque with cloudiness; thin yet lasting soapy head. Incredibly sweet and fruity aroma; freshly cut orange and mango. Strong alcohol taste blended with mild phenols and bitterness; anarchic blend of citrus flavors and yellow pitted fruits; orange and apricot. Heavy body; burning and biting; acidic and creamy.

    An interesting and fairly intense beer that was packaged 04/25/20. It lacks subtlety and nuance primarily in the taste department, and seems a bit hot throughout, even for a 7.8% ABV. But, hey, it is a DNEIPA...

    Fremont's Dark Star. If you haven't had it...well, it's pretty damn good. It's not flashy -- just think about what you want in a stout, and multiply by 2.5.

    Second serving is some 2016 Bigfoot. I was lucky enough to receive two of the special six packs from SNs archive sale as a birthday present. This is so far the oldest example I've had of this beer though the packs also include some 2014 and 2011 bottles iirc.

    Seems a tad more watery than the last time I had it. Flavor's still nice, however.

    Walking downtown, I saw some guys gearing for the next round of protests downtown. I expect another curfew will be announced. Without getting political, they were guys I sympathize with - in the abstract. I just wish they wouldn't take the bait so easily. Hope it all turns out to be a non-event.

    No shit. I was thinking about that as I poured it. I can't necessarily find it when I specifically want to find it...but it's not hard to find in general.

    Went on a tough 22-mile run this morning, finishing off my first 80-mile week. It has been exhausting, and my legs are screaming. A beer is much needed. Cracking open an Intrepid Orchid from Bottle Logic. Lovely maple, bourbon, toffee, and vanilla. Cheers!
