I found it to be a really nice APA/lager hybrid: pale ale flavor with the crisp finish. Still has some life in it, too. I only got one sixer, but it won't survive the weekend, so I forsee going back for more.

My Wegman's recently got it as well but after looking at the canning date I decided to pass on this beer. I wonder why it took so long to distribute this beer? I was thinking maybe COVID-19 but all of the locally brewed beers are not that old so....

    Cheers!

I agree. Seems like a waste. But...it’s cheap enough that I might grab some anyway.

I found some at Trader Joe’s for $8.99 a sixer. Couldn’t pass up at that price.

Is this in the import isle or next to the SNPA?

It was with the regular Bitburger where I got it.

It's your money. Spend it accordingly.

FWIW I bought a six-pack of Lagunitas Little Sumpin' Sumpin' for less money and this beer was cheaper and canned in May. We all get to choose.

    Cheers!

Wont show up here since it's going through Bitburger channels...even if it did...at this point, it's a hard pass for me

I’m actually in PA this weekend visiting the in-laws at Lake Wallenpaupack so my money is going to Wallenpaupack Brewing. They make some pretty solid stuff.

Great beer. I love all of Sierra Nevada's collaborations with German breweries.

They are definitely solid across a range of styles. Drinking a Largemouth IPA DDH Vic Secret right now.

I don’t want to hijack this thread, but is the DDH version worth getting over the regular? I ordered a bunch of stuff when I arrived yesterday but I assumed I was getting the DDH one and it turned out to not be. Yeah, I’ve liked from early on that they brew a lot of different styles and are not just an IPA factory.

Jack, I am certainly not suggesting that your money wasn't wisely spent, but just in case this helps:
I bought a six pack a while ago and went through the first 5 really quickly. When I saw that @TongoRad , didn't grab a sixer yet, I held onto my last can. I figured he'd eventually find the beer (and want much more than a single), but I set my last can aside just in case I was gonna give it to him. Since he just chimed in that he bought a six pack, I opened that last can yesterday. It tasted great. If I pretend that I bought that sixer yesterday, and the beer I had last night was the first from it, I wouldn't have been disappointed with my purchase. But of course - your mileage may vary.

I liked it more, and Wegmans had it for the same price as regular Largemouth, so a no brainer for me.

The 'wild card' is how was the beer stored in the past few months - was it stored in warm conditions?

As consumers we have now way of knowing how a beer was handled over the past 4+ months and therefore buying fresh is the best indicator. But even here YMMV.

    Cheers!

Hey, thanks for thinking of me like that, I really appreciate it!

Something about these cans really does make them go quickly, too, so that must have taken some herculean willpower . Just the other night sitting on the couch, taking some mental notes and then making the post, I look over and see that all of a sudden there's only about an ounce left from my second can. If it wasn't a weeknight I would have done another two or three without blinking an eye. :sunglasses:

This has been my experience and one of the standout qualities of this beer for me. It just goes down soooo easy and even after 3 or 4 I don't feel worn out or tired of the flavor.

    A very well executed brew

Just got a 6-er of this beer for the first time as I haven't seen this in my quarantine grocery stores and finally ventured into a liquor retailer (Total Wine). Drinking my first this morning.

Wow, I love it! It's got that smooth German base lager with a beautiful grain note. Then those C-hops come in with some West Coast punch to round it out.

Going to have to pick up some more as this will be great throughout the summer months.

I picked up a 2nd six pack at TJs as some seem to be enjoying this with some age on it. I had a six pack several months ago and thought it was interesting and pretty good, but not good enough for a repeat purchase. I'm not a big fan of IPLs. Now six months in the can, the beer is now more mellow and the American side and the German side of things are working together wonderfully. It still remains a complex beer, but has now entered the quaffable range for this beer drinker. Cheers.

So, was the 'issue' that this beer when fresher had too much hop aroma/flavor? Or were there other things 'amiss'?

    Cheers!
