The map at Places/Nearby is not giving me anything when I try to bring it up. Is it working for anyone else? Thanks.

No longer appears to work on the site when accessed from a laptop (have not tried from my phone).

About 24 hours, and it’s not working on the desktop, tablet, or phone.

When I travel for biz I always search places by state to see what the top locations are. While some of it is outdated, it still makes a good resource if you are willing to do a little extra web searching. What I would enjoy seeing listed is both an easily accessible top rated beers and breweries by avg beer rating for each state.

Minor suggestion here--could the phone number automatically format? I just suggested a place, and typed the number in. Took me two seconds to correct it to the proper format, and I've now spent more time thinking about it.

Not entirely thread-related but definitely relevant, however, as I am slowly getting around to posting reviews I've sat on for a while I've realized that so many of the places I just loved to visit simply cannot open right now. And one place out of the few I did post tonight has closed already. Yeesh. I had such a nice little mini-tour of sorts at the start of this year, and so much--so much!--has happened since then.

I'm a big fan of Places and used it regularly prior to lock down, and am looking forward to using it more, hopefully in the near future. I agree with much that's been said about the clunky-ness and subjectivity of rating, but the reviews are often very helpful. And having a heads up on kid-friendly places isn't a terrible idea either.

I don't know if this has been brought up elsewhere, but it would be nice if BA began listing online beer seller. In the past few months, I've used TapRm, Beer Drop, and CraftShack and been very happy with their services. I imagine there are others and it would be nice to have a data base of them here with users reviews.

    B. United is charging $12 per case of 12 for shipping (even number cases ship free in same order). What are you paying for shipping? That was always the killer for me.

I'm a big fan of the places section on BA. When I travel I always look up the town going through / stopping in, staying in,a surrounding towns. Use it to pick bars and restaurants. Nice to get vibes of places and I've read a lot of good reviews. Of course I've noticed some places have lack of recent reviews

The reason I like Places over Forums to get info is time. I can look at Places for 30mins the night before and map out a few options. I don't want to have to post in Forums and wait for people to give suggestions. I mainly use Places to get the names of a bar, store, or restaurant and then I go to their website/Facebook to lookup menu and Google maps for location I'll use a different site to see how a restaurant is rated if I like the beer and review on here.

Beer Drop is flat rate $5
TapRm is free shipping orders over $25; I'm not sure how far they'll ship outside the NYC metro area.
Craft Shack is $29 per case to the east coast.

I have used this section of the web site for years! It is very helpful. I have used it to discover fantastic places in Belgium, Netherlands, UK, Dubai, Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar, Singapore, and, of course, the US! Please leave it as is. If you wish to modify it you can have separate rankings for beer, food, location/staff. Thanks!

The places reviews here are much more useful to me than YELP because the reviews/ratings of places here force expressions of specific types of attributes (i.e., Vibe, service, food, quality, etc.) whereas Yelp is just a single number with some stream of consciousness in comments that too often fixate on one or two attributes that don't reflect a beer aficionado's interests. I added three new places just yesterday because I value that Places section.

Hey @Todd, just a thought, I was wondering if there was any way to add a check box on places similar to "wants" on the beer page to keep track of places you'd want to visit. I thought of it today, because there was a place in downstate IL that I want to swing by once I start traveling for work again ...

Depends on what we do with Places. I'll be looking at the numbers soon to help make a call.

This might have been mentioned earlier and the thread, and I can certainly imagine and understand if it's not a direction that ba wants to go, but what about adding some element of gameification to the places aspect? Some kind of unique tag/flair system that users could gain by adding/reviewing places? Could maybe result in a "local guide" type tag for top regional reviewers?

I think it would be good to add a box or a stat to each place showing whether a place offers delivery or curbside pickup. Maybe a link to the order page.
