@Grimm_Artisanal_Ales is Open Work the first release from the spontaneous program you posted about back in late Feb?

Looking forward to Friday releases. Saturday not so much. I'm just not a fan of wine anything. It reminds me of feet

Yes! The Open Work 2020 (the unflavored, straight up spontaneous bottle) is the best beer we've ever made, according to all of us.

The reason we're spreading the releases out over multiple days is to avoid lines. We have LARGE batches of Hyperfocus Strata, 2nd Anni TIPA, and Magnetic Tape -- those should last for at least a week. The only really limited releases are The Open Work(s), 2nd Anni Stout, and Comic Sans Galaxy.

I expect you can avoid any major lines and still make out pretty good if you just wait an hour or two after opening. Honestly very hard to know what to expect in these times!

There are ~80 cases of 2nd anni stout. We won't put it up for shipping Friday, but depending on inventory we might add a small amount to NYS shipping on Monday.

unfortunately no, because we have a contract with Grandstand (who prints our glassware) to run our merch mail order site, which ships directly from the printer. so you can only order beer and merch separately, for the time being at least.

2nd Anniversary Stout is real nice. I want candles that smell like this beer! The roasted hazelnuts are an incredible note and they work really well with the vanilla. The roasted hazelnuts give richness, roastiness, and a really pleasant finish. It also has that barrel aged aspect where it feels like the barrel is there to smooth and round it out rather than convince you that it's a cocktail.

The ABV is higher than I expected but that's mostly a compliment. Without knowing the abv, my wife's remark was, "Wow, that's a nice easy regular drinking stout unlike some of the others you've had recently." I'll restock tomorrow so I can drink 14% stouts every day... her words, not mine.

This is quite smooth and not nearly as sweet as stouts with similar heft. Relatively, the body is maybe a little thin, but in a way that's actually refreshing and light on the tongue rather than cloying. DDB might refer to it as "European." I don't think I've ever had a 14% beer go down as quickly.

Atypically, I don't love the stout quite as much as it warms, but I am still happy to keep drinking it! It becomes increasingly hazelnut forward. What's the matter with being one note if it's a solid note?

If you like hazelnuts then this is must get. If you don't like hazelnuts, then I still strongly encourage you to try this beer and remember what stouts could be like before the pastry wars.

I've really enjoyed how easy drinking both bourbon barrel stouts to come out of the Brooklyn space have been and can't wait for the next one.

Also Hyperfocus Strata is nice. It drinks like it's Threes Dare to Know's big brother. The Strata is dank and grassy initially, followed by pleasant tropical fruit flavors, and a refreshing finish that leaves you wanting more. I'm beginning to wonder if the finish on these Grimm beers is a scheme to get you drinking more!

Happy (belated) 2nd anniversary @Grimm_Artisanal_Ales! Strata is tasting great and I cant wait to get into the anni bottles.

Its been a while since I visited the brewery, but did you guys install a new staircase? I remember before the taproom opened reading about the possibility of a roof deck beer garden. Could it be!?

Yes! Since we were forced to close the taproom, we seized the opportunity to build stairwells that will bring us up to the roof. You may have noticed a bit of renovation going on, which were lucky to be allowed to do as we were regulated as an essential business. There will be indoor and outdoor space on the roof as well as a mezzanine level at the end of the taproom opposite the bar. We have a lot of work left to do, but it's going to be really amazing when it's all completed. I wish I was free to share the renderings and details but there's so much in flux as we continue to work on the design.

anybody crack their Open Work bottles yet? :yum:
