But to be considered "imperial," wouldn't it have to be highly hopped too? ;-D

Love to see more ESB’s - Pivo Brewery here in Iowa makes a real nice one. English Milds as well (Confluence in Des Moines has a nice one called Sophie’s Mild) - I also love a Schwarzbier here made by Second State In Cedar Falls that was fantastic.
Much fewer IPA’s would be welcome.

love to see more Lambic styles from the states (if that’s possible?) been enjoying New Gladys’ Raspberry Tart (not sure the style, but it’s freaking amazing)

Free Will also just announced cans of something they are calling an "English style Pub Ale":
    https://freewillbrewing.store/collections/cans/products/walk-awhile-with-me

Walk Awhile With Me - English style Pub Ale brewed with a base of Maris Otter and a bit of Crystal malt, hopped with Golding and Chinook. Notes of crispy toffee, biscuit, and herbs of the earth. 4.2% ABV⁣

Any one of the 25 styles I have only found one of so far.
    Cheers.

Hmm? That is a bit different.

When I homebrew my English Bitter Ale nothing but EKG (East Kent Goldings) for flavor/aroma.

Do you think the Chinook was just used for bittering?

    Cheers!

THIS! I miss going to local breweries. They are open here but My family is pretty insistent that I not go due to my age and heart condition. Local breweries with creative brewers are the only place (besides brewing your own) that can sell uncommon styles and not take a financial pounding.

It has been said that beer is proof that god loves us. I say COVID-19 is proof that there is no god.

English brown ales...and oatmeal stout seems to have disappeared from the planet in my immediate area.

Simple American Pale Lagers and by chance, I'm drinking my 3rd pint of Frontier Wellsprings Lager that was just tapped today. Gawd it's good.

No idea. But yeah, obviously not a traditional English hop.

Perhaps tacky to reply to my own post, but I had my first new-to-me ESB in quite a while yesterday. Produced by a brewery about 30 kilometers (18 miles) from my house. I thought it was a good example of the style.

based on my experiences so far this summer

    bitter
    helles

I'll do a little crossover from the controversial thread and say that I would rather drink either of those styles all summer than a pilsner

They can call them mud water for all I care. A nice roasty stout that I can drink three pints of and still be able to see straight is what I'm looking for.

Too true! I recently had that very experience. It was my first time actually beer shopping in a store since the lockdown and I was in the mood for a lower gravity porter; the only difference was that I came away with a 4 pack of Murphy's. No regrets :sunglasses:.
