The feds don't care about people shipping beer, that idea is laughable. I'd like to see one example of someone busted trading beer and anything happeneing.

Oh that makes perfect sense. I mean with all the busts the feds have been doing in the underground bourbon and beer selling and trading. I’m guessing this clown is screwed. 5-10 easily

Does anyone know if side project will exchange these bottles out? I just want to get rid of mine before the FBI gets involved and takes it.

What's the trade value of counterfeit BBT now? And what are the odds someone would trade counterfeit counterfeit BBT?

I really don't want to trade mine away out of fear that I might get another counterfeit beer.

CBC is deleting any reference to this in comments on their social media. Not a great start. I truly don't understand this tactic, especially when the brewery themselves don't seem like they're being accused of any wrongdoing whatsoever.

This obviously sucks for everyone that this guy traded with, but can we take a moment to talk about the portion of this that will never cease to amaze me?

How hard people will work to not have to work!

Seriously, this guy went through the hassle of vetting a local to dumpster dive for empty bottles, shipping them to him, refilling them, waxing them, posting and negotiating trades, packing and shipping the trade, then posting the bottles for sale, packing and shipping them again. All while actively trying to hide his identity. Could have just worked part time at Target and would have made more per hour.

I mean I highly doubt they want this being spread all over their social media accounts, especially since its most likely only tangentially related to them. (I mean, have we even confirmed whether the guys worked for CBC or not?).

    Edit:
well then, lol. guess he did work for them.

They just responded saying theyre looking into it now. When someone commented on a columbus brewing co pic that showed potentially Raji Reddy working the canning line....

Deleting the comments people make on their post doesn't help to achieve that purpose in the long run though, I've only seen that backfire.

(it sounds like they did mention it offhandedly though, so this is moot anyway!)

and this is the reason that secondary beer markets are truly ridiculous. There is no beer on the planet, and dare I say the universe that is worth 400 bucks plus. These kinds of threads definitely help me get over any FOMO that I may have. I am sure the beers from outside New England are great, but I usually have a decent chance at a nice Hill Farmstead stout or farmstead ale, and I live close enough to Tree House, Trillium, Allagash, and Fox Farm, so I think I will just be happy with that and the shelf lambics and barrel aged stouts I can find. There are too many profiteers and shysters that make trading for high level bottles too risky. Sad, but true. I am craving a bottle of Atrial Rubicite, and hopefully that is below the threshold for scammer scum.

Hey apparently @tcorder219 is unable to comment on this thread. Maybe because he isn’t a trader?

Anyway he PM’d me and told me to let all know that “Yes CBC has been made aware of the situation. They are now in the midst of gathering any and all information available”

I would say if you are directly impacted feel to PM Tony any and all relevant information to get this figured out.

Tony is a standup guy as are all CBC people I’ve come into contact with. I’m sure they were completely blindsided by this.

So how did homeboy get the bottles? This has to be a two man operation, right? Especially since people said they were getting BBT bottles shipped to them from St. Louis.

No clue on the latter part but as far as getting the bottles sounds like he was down in STL for BBT 2019, probably could have easily grabbed empty on-site bottles. Either from people, left around or trash cans.

I was at BBT weekend three days in a row and if I had the intention to I probably could have scooped up 100+ empty bottles.
