Summerfest finally came closer in my radius -- all from the same distro -- all bottled March 27 -- all priced higher than usual for SN products. WTH?

We'll probably see Oktoberfest at the right time this year... albeit 6 months in the bottle. :-/

When I finally "got out" (in more ways than one) and went beer shopping after a few months off, after a few stops I did eventually find Bitburger / Sierra Nevada Triple Hop’d Lager last week. Pulled open the cooler door, grabbed a shrink-wrapped sixpack, flipped it over, wiped off the condensation and squinted through the plastic, changed to my stronger reading glasses and read:
    2011.01.07
    2020.01.08 11:55

"WTF! January 8th! Oh, no, it must be Euro-dating, right - August 1st! Talk about fresh! It won't be canned for another month!"

Only thing I can think of is that Sierra Nevada got tired of us "out of the immediate area of their breweries" folks bitching about 2, 3 or 4 months old SN beers being the only stuff we ever find on the shelves...

    "Oh, OK,"
the SN marketing team said, "You guys wanna see some REALLY old stock? We'll have Bitburger brew and can this collaboration in Germany."

What the heck is the 2011 date?

And to be clear, again, I'm not bitching about SN, I'm bitching about a particular distro.

    Typo...:grimacing:
Why'd they put the "1" and the "2" so close together on the keyboard!
(And the print on the keys is so small - where are my date code reading glasses again?)

I picked up a 12 pack of Summerfest today dated 06/03. Not complaining, but it is odd that every 12 pack prior to today was from March. What happened to April and May?

Your distributor didn't order any. We have 5/21 12 packs around as well as 6/03 6 packs

I saw April dated six-packs in N. Illinois too.

There's word that Summerfest will be no more after this year :astonished:

    My thoughts:

I'm shocked! It seems to be selling very well here and I see this beer being consumed in many threads. Besides me enjoying the beer (it's one of my favorites) there's a ton of nostalgia attached to this beer for me and I am really saddened to hear this.

Hey now let's cut him some slack, I am sure that he has a life outside of here :stuck_out_tongue:

He already got his BA approved camping trip in. What's next, he's gonna want to spend regular time with his family? Smh, kids these days...

Maybe, but does he have a life outside of Sierra Nevada?

Yes... I'm kidding. Besides, I'm chiding him because I care about the Summerfest. And I saw he was reading the thread yesterday. :sunglasses:

I just bought 2 cases here in PA. Good stuff. Hope there’s more next year.

    This. Would. Be. A. Travesty.

I know, I know, we should buy more. I’ve bought more than my fair share this year. It seems to move pretty steadily where we are...

Went through 3 cases at my house this summer... this would seriously suck.

I looked at a local retailer yesterday, looked like the same 4 12-packs in the cooler as I saw 2 weeks ago.

I have to wonder if the late release hasn't stunted sales around here. Oberon seems to be selling at the same store.

Oh yeah, did my part for Summerfest. :-)

It was pretty disappointing this year, brewed in late winter and on shelves in my area around labor day. Didn't see any cans either.

Picked up the last 6-pack in my local shop yesterday, looking forward to cracking them open this weekend.
