I have a new Tavour conspiracy theory. Is it possible that when they see an empty box, that you were offered really good beers? Once they have you on the hook with something in your crate, you are far less likely to get any exceptional/rare beers in your feed.
I’m just trying to figure out why everybody else has good stuff in their feed and six of nine of mine are always IPAs that I have no interest in.
I just signed up a few days ago to monitor what is made available and the prices. I am merely curious. I seriously doubt I will actually order anything from them, and their offerings so far are not convincing me to change my mind. There has been exactly one beer I would have been remotely interested in (sold out immediately, of course) and a sequence of NEIPAs from random breweries at 7 bucks a pop (plus shipping). I have plenty of random breweries cranking out NEIPAs near by. But, it's only been a couple of days...
Tavour must be reading my complaints. They put an astounding 5 new beer in my feed today that I do not want.
Hmmm... Well, given the way they have things set up with that flat rate shipping charge, it IS in their best interest to encourage short shipments (i.e. fewer beers per shipment).
Let me know if you’re left hanging. If you want to PM me an address, I might be inclined to send a bottle.
Still no response to my email about the missing bottles, so I called just now. The customer service rep didn't seem surprised I was missing the bottles, told me they would ship out replacements next week and there would be no shipping charge. And that I was free to add more bottles to that crate if I'd like. So excellent customer service but still annoyed about the missing bottles. I've been using Tavour since 2017, have had over 25 shipments, and the beer selection used to be much more interesting and rarely sold out. As others have mentioned the app will sometimes notify me of a new beer only to find it's already sold out, and most of the options are unappealing or available locally for cheaper.
I suggest you keep the lines of communication open. It doesn’t cost anything to monitor the offerings. You know the minute you ignore them is when all the good stuff gets posted!
For the third time in a row my crate arrived and one of the barrel aged beers was missing. This is despite me being told twice previously it won’t happen again. Really like the service otherwise but I’m getting close to deleting. It’s always beers that have sold out too, so they can’t ship me another. This crate also had a can explode so the box was dripping wet when it arrived...
Did you post something in the Chicago Craft Brewer's Alliance page about this? I'm not on FB, but a buddy of mine sent me a screen shot of the post. He did this because he knows I have a Tavour box coming today and we've been joking about how something is definitely getting explodey with the warm weather and long shipping. This will be my first Tavour box. I started monitoring more closely after I missed DO ADWTD. Blessed was the anchor to start the box. Does anyone know what Blessed and 10 Years ran at the brewery release? I'm just catching up on this thread. It's interesting that different regions see different beers. I don't believe I ever saw Rusty Nail, but I did get the recent BA Dark Star. For me the app has definitely been a bit glitchy. Deleting and reinstalling definitely helped fix most of it. Sometimes I get an email update but no phone notification. Sometimes nothing at all. I'll be curious to see if my box is correct and not a mess today!
10 Years was $35 at the brewery, $50 on Tavour. It's available at bottle shops here locally, and I was told it was $49 wholesale so there's a markup on top of that. Even with shipping it was cheaper for me to buy via Tavour, provided they actually get the bottles to me.
Funny, because appears someone else in IL had a Tavour box blow up too. My box arrived shortly after my post. Delivery guy was friendly and wore a mask, which I appreciated. Order was correct and nothing was blown up. Delivery truck/van must've been AC because everything was actually cool to the touch. All in all, a positive experience except my credit card bill. Damn Anchorage beers. And to think, this all started because I got a $10 credit from a trade partner and did some buzzed beer buying from the couch...
I had this theory once too. But given that I don't have an open box and haven't seen any rare or exceptional beer in months, I'm guessing that lull I was suspicious of was just a natural lack of anything interesting.
Anyone else see the fresh hopped DIPA from florida that dropped as a noon time secret? I passed, never heard of them.
