Some updates from the land of the Mouse.
Looks like Motorworks is still on track to open Downtown in the old OBC space.

JDubbs announced they will be taking over the tap room at Brew Theory to open June 6

Speaking of Brew Theory, they inked a deal to be the licensee for Shipyard Brewing in FL.

Most of the breweries in town are open in some capacity... call or check Social Media.

Just heard that Hourglass has purchased all the brewing equipment at red cypress. They are going to turn a portion of it into a production facility.

Any info that they'll use the space for service?

From what I was told NO, it will be just a production facility and they only have about 1/3 of the space. From what I can remember it is basically from the where the cooler starts all the way back to the wall with the Mexican place. They did however purchase eveything in the location.

Slim Pickens was the original bidder that is why the first auction was halted. Then that fell through.

Also to note-- Hourglass also bought all of Red Cypresses IP.

Hmm. Interesting. That's some big expansion....two service locations and now a production facility. Good for them

Is it just me or is Half Barrel the best place to get to-go of other breweries? It seems to beat any liquor store close.

A lot of the stuff brewed there is pretty good as well. I’ve enjoyed a lot of their sours and NE IPAs.

I will be at the Marriot Grande Vista for a conference...is there anywhere better? I saw that Half Barrel is only a few miles away and they have nice guest take outs.

Nope, Half Barrel rocks and is your only real option in the immediate area. They're great to drink at and for to-go beer. If you want to make a quick trip, I'd go to Gnarly Barley and Ellipsis as well.

What @shand said, if you do end up at Gnarly Barley (great craft beer place) you may want to drive the 10 minutes down Orange ave to RockPit brewing. Great local brewery. Anything else and your getting a long way from home. LOL. Do check out Ellipsis, it is 5 minutes from Orlando Airport and has amazing NEPAs and are doing some cool berliners .

Thanks, I will stop at Ellipsis for crowlers before going to the resort since I'll be at the airport.

On that note, are there any strong bottle shops in that area too, or just stick with Half Barrel?

If you want a second stop and are fine going a little bit out of your way, Knightly Spirits on Orange Blossom Trail is the only other Orlando bottle shop I'd recommend. I do think that Half Barrel is getting in a better selection nowadays though.

We have some new players in the game in Orlando.
Three Odd Guys Brewing is opening this week in Apopka
Persimmon Hollow is opening their new location on Lake Eola this week
Motorworks Downtown (old OCB spot) is opening soon.
Windemere brewing should be open by the end of October

Will any of these be worth a visit?

Persimmon was not great beer when I visited their original location

I have heard good things about 3OG, have not had their beer myself.
Motorworks down south always has great one offs on tap. Heard they will do the same here.
PH they make shit beer but someone has some money to open a new place. (kinda like Sanford Brewing)
    Know nothing about Windemere

I stopped by Three Odd Guys Saturday night for their opening. Met a couple of the owners who seem like nice guys (not odd though). Having said that I'd describe it as a very soft opening in that they only had two of their beers on, an IPA and a brown ale that I'd describe as very average. Had 10 other guest taps on (nothing exciting) and had about 14 people working/helping out which most seemed to be getting in each others way. I'm definitely going to check back in a few weeks to let them get up and running. Very conscious of social distancing and were very welcoming.

I’m moving to the area soon and appreciate the list/recommendations in this thread. Probably not happening nowadays during the pandemic but were there any places hosting regular shares pre-covid that I should be on the lookout for when the covid situation gets much better? Hoping to meet other Orlando locals and share some fun beers!
