Nap over. Cooking over. Dinner over. Cleanup over. Watching MasterChef and drinking a bomber of my 2nd favorite beer from everything I had during TBBW - Arkane’s Dessert Eagle “Turtle”, the Saturday release 3/14/20:



The bottle is as yummy as the draft I drank at the brewery back in March. Bourbon BA Imperial Stout with Pinellas Chocolate, Caramel & Pecans. By the end of the week, the Country went into pandemic shut down, and there was no line for Saturday morning’s release...pity, it was Arkane’s best of the week, imo. Chocolate ganache, caramel, and toasted pecans; bourbon in the background. Delicious! Cheers bar mates!

Nope, not me...but they were/are a huge influence.

 

Was about to leave, asked if any new taps were on. Bell’s Brown Ale tapped, so I stay watching the White Sox down 3-0, but hopefully staging a comeback as the night continues.

Yes. You see correctly. That is an actual, honest to goodness, can of Three Floyds Alpha King you see in that glass. I missed my local shop’s first supply of Zombie Dust, which is one of two beers left in my first Top 10 must-try beer list...dammit!

Canned 08/17/20, so you can’t get much fresher than that. Tons of aroma on the nose...citrus that I didn’t expect with that dark copper body, followed by pine. It’s a real pleasure. Slightly aggressive hops hit the tip of the tongue, but the malt comes in fast to balance it out. The piney resin lingers on the back end for some time. Reminds me vaguely of a Bells Two Hearted, which is just fine. The head disappears quickly, but there is lots of lacing. This is a solid drink for this burgeoning shoulder season, but also probably all the time.

I get a little irked that the ABV is either not listed or not noticeable to me on the carton or can. Toppling Goliath is like that, too. I could see if your ABV is 18% like some DFH and you need to keep it on the down low, but otherwise, please put it somewhere I can find.

So many awesome breweries becoming available finally here. Better late than never.

 

Grabbed this Eel River Earth Thirst IPA at the store yesterday. This version is brewed with Sabro, Citra, Mosaic, and X17 hops. solid enough.

 

Hey, I’m noticing these guys with particular head patterns. You are obviously a student of @beergoot. I mean, lookatit! Tapered upper body, central hole, inches above the glass rim. This is a movement. I’m calling someone. Maybe John Oliver can report on this. It’s definitely a thing.

 

I drink all these hazies then I have to tone it down with a beauty courtesy of @Nugganooch . Damn this is fkn good.
