    This year's batch of Exhibit 'A' Demo Tape: DDH Double IPA w/ Nelson Sauvin Hops and Wine Grape Juice (Gewürztraminer, specifically) is tasting mighty fine. Last time I had this was its inaugural can release last November, and my review is basically the same. You can read it here!

    Jester King Bug Farm Farmhouse Ale with watermelon, lavender, rosemary, and mint. Aa rare beer that is refreshing and comforting simultaneously! Went very well with our baked fish.

    look: 4.25 | smell: 3.75 | taste: 3.25 | feel: 3.75 | overall: 3.5

    The body has the color of nectarine juice; thick and frothy white head, rocky and sticky; patchy rings of lacing and foam speckle the glass. Strong biscuit-like aroma with citrus pith; orange and pineapple lurk in the depths. Big biscuit malt base flavor; oats; grapefruit and lime; phenolic and boozy. Heavy body; strong alcohol heat; sharp and biting; acidic; edgy dryness.

    This beer deteriorated as I progressed through drinking it. My initial impressions were nearly straight "4s" but as things progressed, the beer just seemed hot and harsh overall. It looks great, though. I am inclined to think that the fairly high ABV plays a big part on my impressions. Where such high ABV ratings generally work well with big, dark malt bombs, it just seems too high (to me) for the NEIPA/hazy format, especially at the double or imperial levels. A bad match up. Too boozy (for the style) and not enough hazy juiciness or fruit-like freshness.

    This is likely the freshest double jack I've ever had (8/28 can date). One of the first DIPAs I regularly bought when I first got into craft beer and IPAs in 04/05', and even then they were usually 2 months old.
