Enjoying a glass of fh pallet jack at a new to me place in Oregon City. The Growler Run. Never heard of these guys, but they have an interesting selection of fh beer from breweries I'm not familiar with (Ratchet, Silver Falls, Freebridge).

The Silver Falls certified fh ipa is a show stopper. Dank, resinous, with a huge fh presence. There's something of a Roquefort cheese aroma and flavor, that I pick up in only the dankist of IPA's. Impressive.

The Ratchet hop picker citra isn't quite as good, but it's no slouch. Lot's of watermelon on the nose and palate. Yummy.

The freebridge phase two is other worldly. I'm not even sure I like it, but it's pretty incredible. Huge juniper aroma and watermelon on the nose, and on the palate this is a dipa meets gin and tonic sort of beer. Just amazing.

Christ, but it's good to live in the NW.

I do believe I might be stopping by here again this weekend.

I’m ok not drinking Skookum anymore, fresh hop season or not.

Ive had Citra Slicker and Fields of Green so far today. Wetwired soon.

    Soon.

Issue with Skookum? My respect for them has grown over the last couple years. Am I missing something?

They sell a Blue Lives Matter-esque shirt and then during the middle of the Black Lives Matter/George Floyd situation this past spring, they were part of a video supporting the police. Then when they got called on it they deleted it and tried to pull a neutral both sides stance which didn’t go well.

If that doesn’t bother you, that’s fine, that’s your decision. But I’m done with Skookum. The only thing I have is my voice and my wallet.

I’m now drinking Wetwired. Praise all that is good in the world, the beer is back to its original greatness as a single IPA.

Y'all have no idea how long I was waiting to get on a machine to post this. All day at work I was thinking "Can't the machine have a conniption for about 10 minutes?"......

FWIW, I'm really torn on it. I know the folks at Skookum, and have found them to be good people. The owner and I have clearly different politics, but that has never stopped us from talking about beer, camping, guns (I'm pro-gun, anti-NRA), hunting (I no longer hunt, but, if you've some extra game, I can always eat), mules, airplanes, cars, cars with airplane engines! (Murka, fuck yeah!), and politics.

He is a good, kind, caring person, but, much like me, he should never be the spokesperson, even for his own business. We're both just too clumsy. I truly believe he meant to try to appease both sides, but...... I gots some empathy here.

That said, I'm not on lifetime boycott, but, it's gonna be a while for me.

    Everyones mileage will vary.

I get it. I grew up in the midwest, surrounded by hard core conservatives and gun nuts. Like my brother and my dad. They're not bad people, but I don't agree with them. I will, like you, eat the animals they shoot, though, that's delicious.

I don't think there's anything inherently wrong with saying cops' lives matter -- they do. They do. But, cops are not being as effectively and systematically (consciously or unconsciously) targeted, IMHO. At the same time...I totally understand saying something you think is reasonable, with good intent, and finding that it doesn't sit well in an environment you really didn't understand. So I have some empathy for a misguided message.

Speaking of misguided messages, I should probably shut up. I've had a lot to drink, and I really don't spend much time thinking about this stuff, and I'm certainly not in the best state to be trying to compose and communicate my thoughts on a complex and nuanced matter...

    *shrug*

I like good beer and good whisky. Cheers.

    Ah! Exactly.

Those of who truly believe "all lives matter" will say: Black, Red, Blue, Yellow, Indigenous, EMT, Fireman, artists, whoever, their lives matter! ALL LIVES DO MATTER!

Yet, the "All Lives Matter" folks seem, to my eye, to be unwilling (possibly incapable?) of saying any one particular matters. If they all matter, then, yes, we can single them out, and say, YES! That life matters. And, that one, the next one one, ad infinitum.

"they" seem to be focused on "All Matter" or "only ours do.

As mentioned above, I'm a few beers deep, on low sleep.

I'll close with this. We are all just living life by the drop. There's only so many drops in our buckets:

Currently enjoying a Machine House Fresh Hop Simcoe Bitter.

Nice big Simcoe nose, good malt flavor, nice and dry, finishes with a citrusy twang and copious bitterness. Easy-drinking at 4% abv. This beer is a charmer. If you see it, grab it.
