    Drinking my last bottle of homebrewed Black IPA. Brewed with English pale ale malt (optic), honey malt, dextrine malt, and dehusked carafa iii, then hopped with Columbus for bittering and loads of Citra and Amarillo in the whirlpool and fermenter. This is my favorite beer I have ever brewed. Makes me miss Wookey Jack.

    Brewery #18 at Vasen Brewing Company drinking “Norse” NE DIPA made with yeast from Norway:

    Very orange juicy. No bitterness (26 IBUs). Not full or fluffy. Barely opaque with clarity under thick white cap...my kind of “NE” IPA given it has virtually no NE qualities other than, inter alia, it is devoid of bitterness... Cheers from Richmond!

    Starting part 2 today (I only sit down and read this on my afternoon relaxations), and going much darker with both stick and beer - and music.

    As promised, my first 2020 Narwhal. Hot damn, this is delectable. Great pairing with a Maduro-wrapped Tempus. The original Tempus is a Nicaraguan and Honduran filler, with a Honduran wrapper close in character to natural (e.g Connecticut) leaf. It smokes big and strong, but it's not a chimney smoker. The Maduro wrapper takes an already strong stick and elevates it to a slow, even, strong smoker. Definitely nice, but if you're going to pair it with a beer, you'd best choose wisely.

    This was an excellent pairing. @TheGent

    Some proggy black metal for the first hour (@GreenBayBA and @superspak would approve, no doubt), then shifting to something lighter and more atmospheric - but no less dark - for hour #2.

    What a difference fresh beer makes. I hadn't really tasted the toffee in this for ages, but it stood out in a best by June 2021 batch bought from a real beer store. In other words, quite different from the TW stock which sits there for many moons.
