Just got an alert from a local store that they now have this in. It's the XV version aged in bourbon barrels.

I know that the regular version of Old Raspy is tasty but just wondering if anyone has tried a past barrel aged version would like to step up & let us know their thoughts on this? Yes I know there are reviews & I read some but just wanted to see what everyone thought.

    Feel free to shoot, cheers!

    It's delicious. It's also expensive.

I thought last year's was quite good. However, I will not be buying it again this year. As good as the beer is, the bottle is only 16.9 oz (IIRC) and the price tag is north of $20.

Ya, in GA it retails for $24.99 most places, and that's North of a good 750mL bottle from most breweries, so for a 500mL it hurts to buy. Still, it's a fantastic beer.

Been said already...this is an awesome beer, but just insanely overpriced. You can likely get a 4-pack of BCS for the price of this beer. I might get one of this year's, or I might just pass and drink a Parabola one night...paid like $13 for that, and it's MUCH better than BA Old Raspy.

Very good, but absolutely not worth the money, even at a more "reasonable" $20 price. Anything over that and it's more expensive per ounce than Black Tuesday, which is at least a 19% monster.

didn't realize it's $20 for roughly a pint, that's quite pricey, good to know!

I thought it was too expensive when i bought it, thought it was a 22oz bottle, when i drank it realized it was 16.9 oz and was extra dissapointed. Is a great beer though

Apparently one store in LA has it. None of my local places that usually get it have even heard about it being released yet. Weird

What does the fact that Black Tuesday is 19% have to do with it?
I actually like BA Old Rasputin better. More balance and not nearly as sweet.
I think its a better made beer and that alone should justify the price.
I found it for $17.99 in Illinois.

If by tasty, do you mean if I crossed paths with you on the street, would I rip out your intestines and squeeze them out for any remaining drops for one last taste of it, then, yes.

This post brought to you by the mid-season finale of the walking dead ;P

P.S. This post was sponsored by sarcasm. I would not actually do the above said things. ...I might however entertain the thought. It is, after all, an amazing beer ;P

That certainly doesnt always justify the price.
I heard the Black Tuesday Brewer himself talk about how they priced Black Tuesday in an interview online and let me tell you, the amount of malt has little to do with the $30.00 price tag.

Cellar a normal 4pk of old raspy 6-9 months and it will be nice and smooth. More like the barrel aged beer. You will miss out on the barrel but save lots of $. I've had it barrel aged and will not buy it again. After aging old raspy i doubt I have it fresh again either...

Adam's Fine Wine and Liquor in Redondo Beach got it, guessing other stores will follow suit in the next few weeks?

This is probably a better alternative to help my ever shrinking bank account from beer robbery :astonished:
