I had no idea Patrick also had a winery. Any plans to serve Erosion wines at The Bruery locations for those of us with significant others that can’t drink beer?

I will say I wish they had started the box sooner.

Seems like they could have poured a bunch of 4oz samples of each and tasted through them instead of having everyone down a bottle before moving on, but I get it’s their first time with this format.

Is it "also has" or "only has"? I thought he cashed outta Bruery a couple years ago and moved to Napa.

Patrick still owns 20%, and his father owns 20%, if I recall.

I got word that my closest Bruery insider (whose name I’ll leave a secret) is going to work with them too. But it was also kind of cool that they talked about it on Tuesday night. It actually sounds like an awesome venture. If/when they start a beer club, I’ll sign up!

It is very unfortunate. He is definitely a good dude and I look forward to see if/when he comes out with his own project. Then mentioned it on the BT Virtual HH as well.

lol, apparently one of the few that didn't like it. If it was so popular, surprised it hasn't been rebrewed with some forum favorites such as l'deracola and the grade!

After trying all of the 2020 BT Box variants--and enjoying them all--here is my cumulative personal ranking and quick hits from the past 2 boxes. Honestly, I thought all of them were somewhere from good to outstanding, and would not hesitate to recommend any of them. This list is mostly an excuse to remind myself of how much I enjoyed them all, and if you caught me on a different day, I might tinker a bit with everything after my clear #1.

    The Standout
    1. (2019) Blueberry Pancake – Easily my favorite. One of my favorite beers of past couple years. Most recent bottles I had was great, but not improving with age. Drink ‘em if you got ‘em. I really hope they make this a returning regular at least every couple years.

    Top Contenders and Positive Surprises
    2. (2020) Sweet Magnolias – Delivers on the banana/vanilla promise, and tastes as great as I hoped from the description. Also: the benefits of residual potassium from the bananas surely offsets any negative health impacts from the calories and alcohol (*comments not reviewed by the FDA).
    3. (2019) Pistachio Vanilla – The vanilla was much more prominent than the pistachio, so I mostly think of this as a really nice version of Vanilla BT.
    4. (2020) Liberty Stoutwich – The biggest positive surprise for me. I usually find peanut adjuncts to be solid but not spectacular. This one managed to hit just the right mark, perhaps with the help of the other adjuncts to round things out.
    5. (2019) Spicy Island – Another nice surprise. Had low expectations, but this manages to be good and interesting, thanks to the juicy pineapple character. Maybe the most unique of all the 8 variants.

Just Short of My High Expectations
    6. (2020) Love at Midnight – Picked up on the pineapple more than the coconut or vanilla. Didn’t hit with the juiciness of Spicy Island. Went in thinking this might be one of my favorites, and it fell a bit short of that.
    7. (2020) You Want a Piece of Me – I enjoyed it, but maybe suffers a bit by direct recent comparison to BT Maple, which I thought was all around easier to drink while still providing lots of Maple. Piece of Me had a bit of a stronger char/caramel character to it, relative to BT Maple.
    8. (2019) Samoa – I like it, but the adjuncts sounded like a home run and just didn’t quite seem to come together like I had hoped or expected. Similar to Love at Midnight: maybe coconut just doesn’t play well with others when it comes to BT?

I noticed the Elvis Mash was also down around 11%. I'm thinking it's an updated recipe, which I'm thankful for if it tastes as good. Honestly the last few Mash variants I've had made me wonder if they had changed it over the years because I used to love Mash, but could barely drink Mash & FT, while White Chocolate Warmer has been one my favorites in that time period.

Totally agree about the lower ABVs. I like that they are doing the smaller bottles but when it rings in at 21% it still isn't something I am going to do on my own. I would be very happy with a box of smaller bottles of S.H.I.T. variants.

Finally opened Furst tonight. I think I got a bit of that dry finish you were talking about. Not mad at it because it is such a rich and decadent beer that it helps not go over the top. I was quite blown away by it and thought the mouthfeel was amazing and that flavors so well done between strawberry, cacao, and vanilla. It’s such an amazing beer. I think about BA Dark Lord variants and other hyped beers and WHY would I ever trade this for those!? If they ever archive sale this (likely no) I will purchase as many as I could get my hands on. Had Prodigal Physics last night. Enjoyed it very much, but Furst sits high above it. Glad to be a Hoarder and get this one!
