09/23 ish, so it could be iffy? But doesn't science beckon?

Perusing tap lists now that I'm back in town.

Arch Bridge has Cowiche Canyon but I think I've had my fill this season and Simcoe Freshie IPA from Bent Shovel in Oregon City.

The Growler Run in Oregon City has StormBreaker Keyser Saison, Fresh Hop Scandalous Pale Ale from Freebridge in The Dalles, Farm & Kettle Pale from Binary in PDX, Hop Picker Pale from from Ratchet in Salem.

Hop Picker was very tasty this year I thought. Not sure what it's like now, but a month ago it was an impressive fh beer. I'm surprised to hear the Growler Run still has it on tap (it's where I tried it as well).

Freebridge Scandalous Pale Ale was my last FH beer of the year, last weekend. I thought it was a very nice pale ale and a good note to end the season on.

Found a stray can of Fields of Green fresh hop at the liquor store and figured I’d give it a try. Honestly hasn’t lost much. The nose is amazing and still tastes great. Can dated 9/24 Coleman AG Citra. Had a few at the end of September as well. Might be the best FoG I’ve tried.

Having it tonight. Still good, though not fantastic.

Its November, fresh.hop beers are passé, so give up the damn tart recipe!

I actually like to make a chicken and apple pie around this time of year, and just your brief clause gave me the idea to try it with goat cheese this year

Here's the recipe I went by:

I didn't use spelt flour (I'm not that fancy) and it still turned out great. The egg wash and sugar on the crust takes it to the next level, and the filing is nicely sweet, tart and savory. And now I want to make it again!

Varietal and Cloudburst are both making something "fresh hop" for release later this month. Not sure a lot of the details, but it's a pilot project with Yakima Chief.

Christ, if these fools start muddying the definition of "Fresh Hop" any further, I may have to get medieval on someone's ass.......

What heresy is this? Next, we'll be drinking pumpkin beers in July and Christmas beers on the first day of school. Oh wait...

Can you grow hops hydroponically? So we could have fresh hop beers all year?

I sincerely hope this is the route they're taking. The weed growers seem to have it down, not sure if the investment in buildings large enough for hops would give enough return. But, science does march forth.....

For the number of times they'd have the cops called on them (There's an illegal pot growing operation in the garage next door!), I'm not sure it would be worth their while. But as @beertunes says, science must be done.

But: If a company ( my friend Kenny ) that is a legal grower/processor, of the weed, has the license, space, and interest , and possible profit motive, in growing year-round hops, I can see ir as a possibility..

From the pictures I saw from Varietal and Cloudburst, they were frozen. They’re not really giving specifics other than it’s something new. Not sure how it’s different than what Lagunitas did with Born Again Yesterday.

Considering the weather is wacky these days learning to grow hops on the moon might be a good idea
