I filled this same hole with a vintage BCBS purchase that my buddy grabbed for me while picking up his Prop Day stuff.
Is White Elm Champurrado worth $14/can? Looks like it's $9 at the brewery. I don't usually go for that big of a markup, but the reviews of the recent batch suggest it might be worth rolling the dice on this one.
I saw that this morning and was wondering the same thing. I think it's all part of perception. A $14 can seems steep, but I've spent far more on 500ml bottles of BA stouts without blinking an eye.
I have NOT had White Elm Champurrado - but I did have Fluffaluffagus from them and I did not much care for it. My biggest issues were that it was ridiculously sweet and very thin and highly carbonated. To be transparent - I generally do not like overly sweet stouts. Do what you will with that information; but for me, one of their stouts was enough - at that price point, I wouldn't pick another one up.
It's interesting that you mentioned the carbonation because that seems to be White Elm's MO. From the Tavour listing: "*HEADS UP from the brewers - always chill for 24 hours before opening to avoid any sticky spillovers! White Elm intentionally fills all their cans to the brim and highly carbonates them for your enjoyment." Call me crazy, but high carbonation is not a characteristic I look for in a BA stout. I'll pass and see what they're charging for the Epic Big Bad Baptist Bundle that's being teased. I have a $10 credit that I'm dying to use and missed the Fremont bundle.
Yea, it does seem to be something they do across the board - but, yea, I totally agree - for me its not something I'm looking for in a BA stout, or really even a regular stout. Too bad on the Fremont bundle - that was nice
Speaking of White Elm, I saw Tavour had (has, actually as of this post) Cherry Pulpagogo. The picture of the can clearly says "MUST BE KEPT COLD AT ALL TIMES TO AVOID REFERMENTATION" .....uh, how do you expect to ship that to me without an explosion? Pass.
Missed again, but thanks for mentioning it. Only 1pp limit on that, too. At least I have one 2019 left in the fridge.
Im in Wisconsin and apparently ordered the pink guava apricot and blood orange one and it arrived today (shipped Friday) and was nice and cold and unexplodey. Don’t know where in Texas you are or what the weather is but worked fine for me.
We don't dip out of a temp range that is not conducive to fermentation for another month or so at least.
Has anybody seen the Big Bad Baptist bundle? Wondering if I missed it or if it wasn't offered in DC, or if it just hasn't gone up yet.
Seems like they have a lot too. I don't love chili beers enough to get a bundle like this, wish I could try just one.
Just got my first crate from Tavour. Everything arrived in tact so I'm excited to try some of these beers out.
I never saw it pop up in my area, or it came and went without me realizing it. Luckily, a local grocery store just put theirs up for sale today.
