I just got my 5th or 6th crate, but the first in about 18 months. Every time has been pretty smooth. This latest one went through a different local carrier than all previous ones, and they even delivered it on Sunday. I did miss out on the Abraxas set, or I would have been into a new crate today. I did waitlist for it though because it's on a "100 US craft beers" list I have that I'm trying as many as possible from.
I’ve been digging the app, the selection, and the user experience. The shipping is not great though. They use some weird final hand off shipper here and I never know when it will arrive, When you try to track it always just says “Driver Assigned.” My last delivery went from Driver Assigned at 6pm to someone ringing the front buzzer at 9pm on a Saturday night. We often get a lot of random buzzer rings on the weekend, so I ignored it. Then when I checked my Tavour app about 40 minutes later, it said “Delivered.” I went downstairs and the box of beer was just sitting randomly outside the door to our apartment building. Anyone could have picked it up and walked away, especially with the big “ALCOHOL” all over the side of the box.
Closed up my first crate since April (mostly due to TX weather) on Sunday. Picked up the box from the local carrier today and all beer is in my fridge. I've never had a bad experience and this is my 9th or 10th order but this was by far the quickest turnaround yet...Sunday to Friday (I did go pick it up though, local carrier probably would have (maybe) got it to me next Wednesday). I talked myself out of the Abraxas bundle yesterday and somehow missed the pFreim today or I would be into another crate @ $137 for 8 beers
So after all the nonsense and reading about dark star I tried to update my app. Old app won't open, new app isn't compatible with my device.
@TheIncredibleHoke Is it CCS? That’s who delivers last leg here. They are the WORST! I emailed Tavour again about how bad they are, and that I really think I’m done giving them any more money as long as CCS is who they use around here. It literally takes them a week or more to get a box from Syracuse to Lockport...It’s less than a 3 hour drive on the thruway. I could drive there and back faster than what it takes them. Their tracker goes into a stall at the Syracuse hub, nobody reaches out, nobody really knows where the box is, they won’t deliver to my house for some reason, although they did once...first world problem understood, but it’s nothing but frustrating knowing that the box is sitting around 30 minutes away somewhere, but I just can’t have it. Instead of enjoying some tasty beer that I paid for weeks ago, I spend days in email hell trying to get my box to a commercial location, where I pay an additional signature fee, irritated at the whole experience. Trading is a more difficult way to get some of what Tavour offers, but I can’t deal with CCS’ terrible service any more.
Yikes, that actually sounds even worse than “Gio Express,” which is what they use here for the last leg. The online tracker was what annoys me. If they aren’t going to update, don’t even bother providing it.
That's what you get for $15. Other beer shipments cost upward of $30. I'm fine with some uncertainty and delay on the shipping to save the cash. I've never had a shipping issue beyond a delay of a few days.
Massive! Barleywine bundle, 7 different barrel aged varieties up. One Bourbon barrel, 1 rum barrel, one scotch barrel, two different types of tequila barrel, and two different types of wine barrel. Damn my weakness for barleywines...
On-time delivery with tracking is the minimum expected. I would not call expecting this "white glove". JMO.
True, $15 each or $90 for all 7 direct from the brewery. Not a bad markup at all. https://www.giganticbrewing.com/pro...-massive-barley-wine-bottles-for-pdx-delivery I'm extremely excited to try all of these. This is a unique opportunity to study the effects of different barrels using the same base beer.
Plus, Massive! is so good. I just closed a crate last Wednesday & was planning on taking a break for a while before this popped up. I guess the only way to stop is to delete the app or...develop some restraint (shudders in horror).
