That looks almost exactly like the label for Big Luscious from Founders.

I mean, we’ve made a raspberry version of cocoa cow that was quite good. And Alesong makes a version of rhino suit that has raspberries. And block 15 makes love potion #9 that is a Porter with raspberries. I won’t knock it til I try it.

A new Black Butte variant? Why not?

    Am I missing something here?

one of my favorite BA barleywines out there.

relate to this: Grabbed a can of Matchless 2020 Ol LIfewine BBA Barleywine. Clocks in at 14.5% and i found it delicious. price was a little steep, (i think $13 or so) , but i was happy with it.

Also grabbed a bottle of pFriem Rye Whiskey aged imperial porter. also delicious

I am optimistic. I love raspberries, and Deschutes rarely makes a flat-out clunker, so I see no reason this won't be tasty and enjoyable.

I'm cautiously optimistic for the same reason. Mostly wary because of touching an icon like that, not only by adding fruit but adding on to the ABV. I mean, I'll buy one.

Plus, I just went and did me a lookup, and, the base version is listed here ad being 6.4%. Not seeing .4abv as a big deal.

Also, I discovered that I am yet to officially review Obsidian. I will correct that in a prompt and timely manner.

Life Is Good, Part 1: Heater Allen canned their Rauch Bock this week!

    From the December newsletter:

"Also this year we decided to bring back Rauch Bock, a beer we've brewed from time to time but this is the first time it is available in can. This dark, smoky delight is based on Schlenkerla's Ur Bock and is a fabulous food beer (though we like it on it's own too)."

IMHO, this is exceptionally good news. The only thing that would make it better is if they offered crowlers at last years "early pandemic closures" prices ($6 a crowler, or $5 a pop if you bought a 3 pack). I realize that's not likely or realistic, but hope springs eternal.

Speaking of tasty 3 packs priced well, Imperial on SE Division are offering a 16oz bottle/ growlers each of the 16,17&18 B-bomb for$36, or $13 each purchased individually. As someone who came very late to the Fremont barrel aged very party, this is very tempting, even though the size of my to-be-drunk stash of beers triggers anxiety.

Just my two cents on this Dyan, so take it with a grain of salt.

It would be my recommendation that you try all three beers at Imperial before purchasing a growler of them (I think you can still do that there). In my experience, regular Bbomb doesn't seem to improve much with "long term" aging. My guess is that the 18 is probably still outstanding, but I would be leery of the 16 and 17 versions. I'm sure they're still good, but I know that when I last tried them I thought the flavors were muddled and the alcohol increasingly noticeable. They were still good, but I'm not sure I'd want 16 ounces of them.

I would also add that it's probably no coincidence that the last time I had these beers on tap, was over at the Imperial NE Alberta location roughly a year ago. For that matter, I think all three of these beers have now been on tap at the SE Division location for several weeks. So they don't seem to selling all that well, Price might be part of the reason, but it's probably not the only reason. Good luck!

Thanks for the tip, John! I would have probably grabbed the 16, but now, I'll get the 18 and hope BA Dark Star goes on and load up then!

If you haven't ever had, I would still recommend getting a small pour over at Imperial (the 2016). You might enjoy it more that I did.

Ran across this deal in the Deschutes store. 500ml bottles of Black Butte 3 (2020), The Ages (2019) and Dissident Marionberry for $21?! The BB3 bottle by itself is listed at $19, Ages $15, and Dissident $16, so that's a screaming good deal if you are interested in those things. Seems to be Bend/Portland pickup only.

That's a stupid good deal. I've been wanting to try the BB3 for ages. I just might have to grab this. Thanks for the tip!
