Well @BillAfromSoCal , it happened. Thanks to @jesskidden for introducing me to the concept of a "Blank and Tan," I have created my own 3.56 abv stout. Long have I yearned for access to a sub 4% stout that I could drink a couple of. This is my first attempt. I mixed a 12 oz. bottle of Clausthaler dry hopped N/A (abv. of .05%) and a 16 oz can of Beer'd Brewing's Midnight Oil (abv of 6.2%). Truth be told, I wasn't that big on Midnight Oil as a stand-alone beer, so I was willing to use it for this experiment in case the whole thing was a drain pour. Luckily, it is not. It's pretty good. I'll have to try out some other combos and see if I can come up with something that might find its way into my regular lineup. Of course, if some brewery could just brew and distribute a sub 4% abv stout, my first world problems would be solved.

Having this near Pittsburgh, PA from a 16.9oz can. ABV = 5.2% Overall rating = 3.94

A - Clear straw gold with a 2-finger pillowy white head and mild lace
S - Fresh bread with white grape jelly. Touch of noble spice. Quite aromatic
T - Echoes the aroma with bread, white grape and spice. Sweet on the finish with little bitterness. Dries nicely though.
M - Medium body and light-medium carbonation. Has a substantial feel.
O - First time having this and I like it despite the sweet finish. Price was pretty good too at $7.99 per 16.9oz 4-pack.

Thrift store glassware find. I love glasses like this. For me it makes crispy beers softer.

And as for Carlsberg, probably my favorite non craft beer ever to be honest. And I found out about it from this band. Cheers.

The Browns make the playoffs for the first time since The Precambrian and now their head coach and a few others are out of the game with Covid.

Drinking this from Omnipollo. Very tasty and refreshing.

Will violate my Canadian song policy and instead play this for the Browns and their fans. Cheers. [IMG]

Taking advantage of another beautiful day here, before the storms tomorrow as a cold front is coming through. Tomorrow will be all stormy and gloomy, but then back to great weather, if just a bit colder after that. Anyway, courtyard, beer, and book time.

Orval, and starting The Manor by Isaac Singer. He is one of my favorite writers, Originally publishes in Yiddish in the 50's, as a serialized story in the paper The Jewish Daily Forward. I'm not Jewish (lapsed Catholic ha) but Singer always has a great voice in his novels and memoirs. Which capture history as good as anyone.

Got some carnitas quesadillas with fries from a really great local Mexican restaurant, and a chicken tamale not pictured because it comes wrapped in a leaf with tin foil around it
    [IMG]
those sauces went all over the quesadillas and fries, forget ketchup, actually the fries are so good from this place sometimes I eat them plain, not sure what they do

Now for some extra dessert because the stout alone wasn't enough, a Pb & J mix with some raspberry Daily Serving. Not bad, I get a little of everything, the toffee bourbon barrel sweetness, some roasty peanut, chocolate, caramel, vanilla, juicy raspberries cut through the richness to liven up and refresh the palate. I poured the fruited sour in when the glass was half filled with stout. Pretty interesting, I've been waiting for a pb&j stout from them, all they've done is a PB&J Night & Day on tap once I think, and several peanut butter stouts, and even a raspberry chocolate stout, but not peanuts/pb and raspberry or other fruit together. It's a little blasphemy I guess, it could be tasty though. Cheers all!
