a heavy citra IPA. The beers here are good and reasonably priced, but it is too far for me to visit very often. I stopped on my way to see the Bierkeller man.

    Ohio culture. Caamp is badass

On Stay-cation, sitting back enjoying a Cachet from Tree House Brewing (Charleton, Mass), playing Star Trek: Conquest, the least Star Trekkie of the Star Trek games, but one I find relaxes. And with what had been going on, who can begrudge a Trekker that?

Mast Landing's new Spinning in Circles DIPA, triple dry-hopped with Strata, Mosaic, and Amarillo. Freaking great stuff. These guys usually dominate and this is not an exception!

I'm now on brown ale. Helltown's Mischievious Brown Ale. It is in every measure a proper brown ale. It's full of nuttiness and brown sugar. I rated it at 4.05 which is a tick above it's BAaverage of 3.95.

    Yuengling Brewery -- Traditional Lager

    Original December 9th, 2011 ratings: 3.5 3.0 3.5 3.0 3.5

Dark amber body, clear; huge, lasting white head; sticky lacing coats the glass. Subdued smell; mild, sweet malt; a bit of herbal and grassy notes. Gentle malt flavor with primarily mild hop bitterness; mineral-like. Light body; smooth and crisp.

I find a big improvement in the looks and smell, otherwise, a decent enough American lager.
    ----------------------
    Original December 9th, 2011 review:

I grabbed some from the grocery store in Ohio while back there visiting (Yuengling had just been introduced to Ohio earlier that week - early October 2011). Yuengling was one of my favorite beers while stationed at Fort Ritchie, MD in the early 90s.

Appearance: a nice, darker amber color.

Smell: nothing overly special - some malt notes and a hint of grass.

Taste: Nothing mind-blowing, but satisfying. A bit malty with a bit of bitterness towards the end. Perhaps a bit metallic, but nothing overbearing.

Mouthfeel: somewhat light, fairly fizzy with the carbonation.

Overall: a respectable American lager, but nothing overly exceptional

Started with regular Ghost, so figured I'd do a side-by-side with DDH Ghost. I also have another Ghost varietal in the fridge featuring... wait for it... Nelson Sauvin! Cheers!!!

Last pint of Schilling Brewing's Modernism. Awesome brew.

My wife and I are celebrating the five year anniversary of our first date. How fast it went. We are still irritatingly in love.
