[IMG] Tonight's Beer Tasting Lineup is Blind Tasting of Battle Beers! (All of the above beers were correctly identified in a blind taste test)

    1) Trader Joe's Czech Pilsner (5.4%): A Czech-style pilsner from Trader Joe's with yeasty and salty bread flavors. Drinks clean.
    versus
    2) Pilsner Urquell (4.4%): The original Czech-style straight from Bohemia with strong buttery and bready flavors.

    3) Deschutes Fresh Haze (6.5%): A hazy IPA from Deschutes in California with orange, peach, and tropical flavors. Hazy and orange.
    versus
    4) Deschute's Fresh Haze (6.5%) A hazy iPA from 3 Floyds that has strong orange juice, pineapple, grapefruit citrus, and tropical flavors. Intensely juicy and tropical.

    5) Leinenkugal's Snowdrift Vanilla Porter (6.0%): A beer just as described with vague aromas, but strong vanilla and cherry cola flavors within. A flat body with a chocolate cream/vanilla finish
    versus
    6) Trader Joe's Winter Brew (7.5%): A Doppelbock from Trader Joe's with dark malt flavors you'd expect in a bock including caramel, toffee, brown bread/pastry, molasses with a malty finish.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Winners:

    2) Pilsner Urquell: The gold-standard for the style is hard to beat. This Czech Pilsner had fantastic buttery and bready flavors from the diacetyl. An off-flavor in beer that makes it characteristic for this beer and unique.

    4) 3 Floyd's Foggy Geezer: So much intense orange juice and tropical flavors here. Similar, but stronger and more intense flavors than Deschutes Fresh Haze. (Although Fresh Haze is a beautiful looking beer)

    6) Trader Joe's (Josephsbrau) Winter Brew: This doppelbock has expected bock flavors including dark malts, bread, caramel, toffee, molasses. Not the best I've had, but drinkable

    Loser:

    5) Leinenkugal's Snowdrift Porter: Maybe I wanted to try this because of the snow. Maybe I thought it would be better the second time around. It wasn't. The vanilla is overpowering and artificial. Reminded me of an expired cherry cola.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Is Pilsner Urquell the best Czech Pils or do you have a favorite?
Have you tried Deschutes Fresh Haze or 3 Floyds' Foggy Geezer and what did you think?
Have you tried Leinenkugals' Snowdrift Vanilla Porter and were you quite repulsed by this beer as well?

Lucky Bucket Wicked Joe BBA Imperial Coffee Oatmeal Stout, 9.1% ABV, vintage 2018, it's held up well. I really got into this beer when it came out, so when I saw they had a release event at the brewery and were giving out these glasses I contacted them to see how to get one. They were out, but had this one somebody had left behind, and they only charged me shipping.

Drinking my last The Essential: Torch, notes of lychee, citrus marmalade, dankity dankity dank, crackery biscuity malts, tastes dry and hoppy, hint of orchard fruit, floral earthy grassy pine, pretty nice. Cheers all!

Sister got Moderna shot. Four weeks between the first and second shot. Wife and I got the Pfizer shot on Tuesday. Three weeks between the first and second shot. Is it possible he typed 4 “months” instead of 4 “weeks” ?

The haze bros would love to get just a taste of that last beer I had yet, somehow, I'm enjoying this beer more. Call me crazy. A classic in every way. I love you.
